(Yes, Durif and Cabernet were originally French, but they’ve been here long enough to be considered true blue Aussies, so we’re not going to quibble.) “No fewer than 4 varieties join forces in this tiny-batch red. Hentley Farm focuses on producing elegant and complex single-estate and single-block wines reflective of their exceptional piece of Barossan terrior. 'The Marl' takes its name from the fruit grown on red clay loam over marl (a friable earthy deposit consisting of clay and limestone) which reduces the water and nutrient availability producing low crops and rich flavours. With a strong aromatic profile, this straight varietal Grenache punches well above it's weight delivering stunning amounts of blackcurrants and raspberry and a hint of spice on the palate with a soft and balanced finish.

This is delightfully styled, showing sweet cherry, floral, olive and warm spice aromas, leading to a beautifully smooth palate that's rounded and flowing. A lovely expression of the variety with an immediate appeal. At its best: now to 2028

This wine is deep burgundy in colour. Intense aromas of cherry, mulberry and anise meld with earthy notes of forest floor and wild mushroom. The palate is full of savoury red fruit with complex fine tannins and great length of flavour.
