Kilikanoon Attunga 1865 Shiraz

The grapes for Kilikanoon Attunga were obtained from some of oldest vines in the island country of Australia. The fruit is renowned for its intense flavours and its juice for the tremendous ageing potential. The small, thick-skinned berries were fermented and basket pressed to result in low yielding juice. The ferment was then matured for 27 months in large casks of French oak. This wonderful red wine was bottled unfiltered to preserve the character of the grape.

Kilikanoon Settlement Block Clare Valley Shiraz

From Kilikanoon’s Clare Valley heartland – this cuvée makes use of fruit from several ‘Settlement’ blocks in Leasingham originally given to soldiers returning from the World Wars. Warm days and cool nights yield Shiraz of terrific power, elegance and length. The use of multiple blocks and careful oak ageing, adds complexity for a rich, satisfying premium Kilikanoon Shiraz full of black fruit and peppery notes.

The Lane "Reunion" Adelaide Hills Shiraz

Shows more traditional Australian brooding dark fruit character of blackcurrant, stewed cherry and satsuma plum on a backing of liquorice, spice and smoky, bacony oak. Black pepper is infused through the tannin, lending a distinctly savoury edge to the finish. Length is excellent. Luxury is affordable. The Lane Vineyard, near Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, is 400 metres above sea level. Shaped by this altitude and southerly latitudes the cooler climate is ideal for growing grapes destined to become wines of distinction, wines with impressive structure, minerality and natural acidity. North facing single vineyard sites maximize autumn sunlight for later ripening varietals, South facing sites favor aromatic whites and sparkling wines. Significant diurnal temperature variation during grape ripening is a distinguishing feature of this vineyard. Longer sunlight hours and temperate daytime temperatures contribute to intense fruit flavours while the sudden fall in evening temperature preserves natural acidity and structure.

Loom Long Yarn Adelaide Hills Shiraz

A vibrant, progressive family-owned winery in the premier wine region of McLaren Vale, Loom Wine work closely with various growers and distinguished vineyards throughout South Australia. An entrepreneur and mercurial spirit, Steve Grimley has always been connected to numerous and varied business enterprises. He grew up in the vineyards of South Australia – and simply knows everybody in the business. Winemaking royalty Matt Koch and Andrea Maxwell make up the other two thirds of this incredibly talented team. Made from a single site on the Southern Range in the Adelaide Hills, the exceptional 96pt Loom Long Yarn Shiraz certainly impressed the judges at the Royal Queensland Wine Awards where it took home a Top Gold. Seductive aromatics of dark fruits with a palate that knocks you back with a flex of crunchy acidity and tight tannins that linger. A great partner to fresh organic tomato-based dishes.

Anvers Wines Kingsway Shiraz

Dark red in colour, a rich and complex nose, with aromas of ripe blackberry and black pepper spice, typical of cool climate Adelaide Hills Shiraz, intermingled with a subtle sweet cedar note from maturation in French oak barrels. The palate is vibrant and silky smooth, with ripe blackberry fruit flavours and lively spice. Owen and Cassandra Inglis purchased the boutique property in 2004 and immediately set about making their vision become a reality. Their Sidewood Shiraz displays that vision to perfection. Attention to detail is the key here which enables flavours of red cherry, currants and dark plum to shine through along with hints of cinnamon and spice. The texture is beguiling and gives promise to a wine that will age for up to a decade.
