Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels The Gimblett Cabernet Merlot, Hawkes Bay The lions share of Trinity Hills grapes comes from the Gimblett Gravels region, in the lee of Roys Hill. The gravelly soils were left behind by the Ngaruroro River as it changed course over time. The low fertility soils offer little kindness to the vines, forcing them to work and work to produce small crops of great flavour and aromatic concentration. This wine is made with the thought of coming home from work, putting your feet up, and relaxing with a refreshing glass in hand. It's 100% chardonnay and is fruit-forward, clean, and has benefitted from barrel ageing which helped to round the wine and add just a touch of richness. A burst of apple, lemon curd and classic Californian vanilla oak flavours is a just reward for a hard day's work.

With fruit sourced from premiere growing regions along the North Coast (of California) expect a ripe and flavourful Chardonnay with aromas of baked apples, vanilla and buttered toast. On the palate, the flavours are generous with notes of crème brûlée, ripe pear and baking spices and a lush, creamy finish. Pair with creamy pasta or a roast chicken.

Château de L’Abbaye is located in the district of Vertheuil in the Médoc, close to the prestigious appellation of Saint-Estèphe. Its name was inspired by the famous Vertheuil Abbey (“Abbaye” in French) near to the vines and founded in the 11th century. Setting the standards since 1850, and “classed among the finest in the land” in the 12th edition of the 1969 Féret wine guide, today the Château owes its unique character to 100% Merlot plantings.
