Giant Steps Harry's Monster

Mount Mary Reflexion Cabernets

Réflexion Cabernets offers a more immediate, generous take on the BDX blend from the iconic Mount Mary in the Yarra Valley. Sourced from younger estate vines and selected parcels that didn’t fit stylistically with their legendary Quintet, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and a dash of Petit Verdot is all about approachability and drinkability now. It’s absolutely delicious, showing dark berries, graphite, bay leaf and gentle cedar from a measured touch of oak. The palate is medium-bodied and neatly shaped, with fine tannins and a clean, persistent finish. This is a great choice if you love the classic Mount Mary feel but want something that’s drinking well now - or something to see you through while the Quintet slumbers in the cellar.

Toolangi Pauls Lane Chardonnay

Spicy, faintly floral aromas of stone fruit, grapefruit, lime juice and coriander are backed by matchstick-like oak and a hint of mineral. It's round and creamy, smooth and voluptuous, with a gentle, mouthfilling core of flavour and nougat-like complexity finishing with a hint of butter, gentle lemony acids and a faint smokiness. Crushed and pressed with full solids straight to oak (20% new), both primary fermentation and malolactic were natural. Elevage: 8 months on lees in oak before being racked and filtered in preparation for bottling. Hand-picked on 12th March 2018 First established in 1995, Toolangi Vineyards is located in the Yarra Valley adjoining the Toolangi State Forest. This Chardonnay is grown on fine clay loam and produces grapes which represent the unique site. Low cropped and hand harvested from 23 year old vines of I1OV3 clone grapes on D Block rows 35 55. The 2018 harvest will be remembered fondly by winemakers in the Yarra Valley. It was a rare season that gave above average yields and excellent quality fruit. Dry sunny conditions with cool overnight temperatures provided good natural acidity and concentrated wines at lower alcohol levels.

Principia Pinot Noir

Coldstream Hills Esplanade Pinot Noir

Rivetto Langhe Nebbiolo

An extremely pleasing and drinkable wine, and although it has a high alcohol grade this never overpowers its fruity character. Its red colour has Bordeaux reflections and the slow trickle from the edge of the glass confirms its optimal concentration and good body. The palate is caressed by a smooth tannin content typical of the Nebbiolo grape and by a warm and enveloping flavour.

Mount Mary Reflexion Syrah

This is the first time Mount Mary has released a Syrah under its own label, and it’s a terrific debut. Made entirely from estate fruit, the wine is an elegant, medium-bodied take on the variety, leaning more towards perfume and spice than raw power. There’s a bit of whole bunch in the ferment (30%), which gives the wine some beautiful lifted aromatics. Think dark cherry, black pepper, and dried herbs. The palate is tidy and savoury, with enough texture and gentle grip to keep things interesting without ever feeling heavy. It feels like a natural extension of Mount Mary’s house style, just through the lens of Syrah. A great first step for what could become an important part of the Mount Mary range in the future.
