Prohibition Christmas Gin is fast becoming a hallmark of Australian Yuletide traditions, and our 2021 vintage is no exception. Once again, it features all the luxurious complexity you’ve come to expect, including classic ‘Christmas pudding’ flavours from ingredients naturally macerated in our citrus-forward Australian dry gin. This season’s Adelaide Hills figs deliver more flavour than ever before, providing extra depth and complexity to support a backbone of dry gin, macerated cherries, and vanilla. Cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and a touch of star anise harmonise to create a rich spice hit. As always, it plays perfectly in your favourite Christmas cocktails, like a French 75 – on ice with a glacé cherry, or over Christmas pudding, custard, or ice-cream for a decadently festive dessert. Mexicans save the lime, salt and Tequila combination for Margaritas – which happens to be one of our most popular cocktails. Silver is the Tequila of choice, which is made from the blue agave plant – larger in size and sweeter in aroma and taste, the blue agave is an important economic product of Jalisco, Mexico due to its role in producing and exporting Tequila. Tequila is known to aid digestion and help lower blood sugar. So, this is the perfect preparatory tonic for those with plans for a Mexican style feast. Serving Suggestions: Serve in a short glass over plenty of ice. Mix with soda and a squeeze of fresh lime, grapefruit soda, or fresh pineapple juice, or mix up your traditional Bloody Mary by using Tequila as the base. This little bottle of purity is perfectly proportioned to mix two cleansing Vodka Tonics. It’s also the main ingredient in various cocktails such as the Vodka Martini, Cosmopolitan, Screwdriver, Black or White Russian, Moscow Mule, and Bloody Mary. We’ve heard on the grapevine that Vodka is said to relieve tension better than a glass of wine – so we think it’s the perfect tonic to help you relax at the end of a busy day. It’s also known to have many other health benefits, so the first Russians to distill and enjoy it were clearly onto a good thing! Its earliest origins date back to the Middle Ages, since then the drink has evolved from a herbal medicine to the classic Gin that remains so popular today. Gin derives its predominant flavour from juniper berries (which are full of antioxidants) with perfectly balanced botanicals – so we think this is just the tonic for those who need a rejuvenating drink at the end of a busy day. Serving Suggestions: To serve, fill two tumblers with ice, fill glasses evenly with Dr Onyx Just Gin, top with a quality tonic water (we recommend Fever Tree) and a squeeze of fresh lime, dropping the lime into the glass. Speakeasy 500ml Dry Martini Dry Martini: Ernest Hemingway described the Martini best “I’ve never tasted anything so cool and clean…They make me feel civilised”. It was James Bond’s drink of choice where the catchphrase “shaken, not stirred” was introduced in Diamonds Are Forever (1956), and then incorrectly referred to as “stirred, not shaken” in You Only Live Twice (1967), to Bond’s response “Perfect”. The Martini rose to prominence during the 1950s and 60s when the ‘three-martini lunch’ was widespread. Whilst the stance on workplace drinking might have changed, our affection for the Martini hasn’t. An excellent tonic for those wanting to step back to a more sophisticated time. Serving Suggestions: To serve, pour Dr Onyx Dry Martini into a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir, and strain into a chilled martini glass.
