This semi-dry Riesling from Schloss Vollrads is a prime example for the variety. It has an inviting floral bouquet, subtle minerality, and complex fruit focused on flavours of green and yellow apples and Nashi pears. The finish is beautifully balanced, with just the right amount of acid, and stays and stays.

Western Australia's Great Southern region is currently the hottest Australian region for Riesling. Taking its name from the Capuchin friars who arrived in 1619, the Clos is protected from winds by the surrounding hills and by the walls enclosing it. The soils here consist of sand, alluvial pebbles and granitic gravel and this produces a Riesling as zippy, zesty and mineral-driven as it is fleshy. White peach, green and yellow citrus along with melon, kaffir lime and lemongrass notes. Lovely texture and a vibrant, fresh finish.

One of the hard part of winemaking process is blending. Each of the variety had to shine yet not overpowering others in the same blend. In particular this case, the Traminer and Riesling are both delicate and aromatic variety. De Bortoli has found that balance in this fruit driven medium dry white. Resulting with a wine that displays musk stick and mango on the nose and a clean finish.
