Te Rehua is the warmest and richest of the Escarpment vineyards, producing a classically structured Pinot Noir with ample volume of ripe red berry fruit. A single vineyard wine, the Te Rehua is sourced from the 1.1 ha Barton Vineyard anchored on the deep alluvial gravels of the Martinborough Terrace. The wine is fermented in traditional open topped wooden vats and regularly hand plunged before undergoing maturation in 30% new French oak for 12 months. The wine is fined but not filtered.

Shows more traditional Australian brooding dark fruit character of blackcurrant, stewed cherry and satsuma plum on a backing of liquorice, spice and smoky, bacony oak. Bannockburn is spicy with well intergraded savoury oak and great acidity backbone. The varietal flavours such as, raspberries, strawberries and red cherries fruits lingers with a faint hint of forest floor on the palate with well supporting tannins. A greatly composed wine, this is undoubtedly pushing the setting of this country's benchmark for Pinot Noir to another level.
