Shingleback Single Vineyard Grenache is a true expression of the McLaren Vale region, crafted from select handpicked bush vine grenache parcels of grapes grown in our Shingleback Vineyard located between Mclaren Vale and Mclaren Flat planted in 1947. Its sandy loam over clay soil allows roots to travel down to the clay layer where the moisture is trapped allowing vines to survive with very minimum irrigation. This wine displays blueberry and raspberry aromas with hints of black earthy tones, its long silky tannins balance the vibrant red fruit flavours, resulting in a very approachable wine to enjoy now or cellar carefully for up to 10 years

Melded purple and quite deep. Righteously rustic. Dark and red berry fruits with a savoury and green herbal edge. Violet flowers, aniseed, bay leaf and star anise. A chewy, meaty and savoury red wine then ensues, with a wonderful three-way balance amongst the cheerful yet still restrained fruit flavours, the soft and gentle yet present tannins, and the beautifully and quietly persistent acid. Rounded and mouth-filling, yet long and ultimately dry. This is a grown-up’s red wine, hence think of grown-up foodstuffs to drink it alongside. The label pays reference to talented young winemaker Elena Brooks who wears steel cap boots in the day but carries a pair of high heels in the back of the ute, just in case of emergencies.
