The story of Riesling in Australia is as old as the wine industry itself. The famed Florita Vineyard is synonymous with the classic grape variety and was established by Leo Buring in 1962. In 1986 the Barry family acquired the 80 acre property and began to write the next chapter in the famous vineyard's history. The Pike brothers established Pikes winery in the Polish Hill sub-region of the Clare Valley in 1984, renovating an old stone shearing shed to house their winery and cellar door. The Rabl estate was founded in 1750 and today covers around 50 hectares of vineyards in Austrias famous Kamptal wine region. Kamptal gets its name from the river Kamp and is home to Austrias largest wine-producing town, Langenlois. This south-southeast orientated vineyard is planted with Riesling in the upper part comprised of gneiss and slate soils. The lower parts possess deeper soils and are used for Grüner Veltliner.
