One of the best varieties in Orange. Cool climate, high elevation vineyards, a mix of barrel & tank fermentation, yeast lees aged 6 months. Modern Australian chardonnay. Citrus, stone fruit, and a hint of tropical richness. Fresh and lively with fruit purity. Some bread dough and savoury oak complexity in the background. Good flavour intensity with excellent persistence. Nice balance, not overtly oaky but enough to add complexity.

Mayfield Vineyard Eighteen Fifteen Chardonnay

A wine that wowed our Tasting Panel when assessed, from boutique producer Mayfield Vineyard in Orange. Power and refinement, a superb wine.Opalescent green straw. Energetic nectarine and pineapple with alluring notes of struck match, flint and nougat. Rich, ripe and velvety, with an even mix of melon and fig, notes of white cheese and wood smoke, mouth-watering acidity, and balanced oak.

Rowlee Orange Chardonnay

Rowlee’s vineyard was planted over 20 years ago by Nik and Deonne Samodol in the high-elevation (950m) cool climate of Orange. Their daughter, Nicole Samodol, and her partner James Manny ‘combine European wine growing heritage with New World practices. This Chardonnay has subtle lemon and grapefruit citrus with underlying nougat and cashew notes.

Mercer Wines Orange Pinot Grigio

Born-and-bred Hunter Valley specialist, Aaron Mercer spent years at Tamburlaine, and had stints at Tyrrell’s and Brokenwood, before setting up on his own. He’s also worked in California, France and Germany so brings a great deal of experience to his winemaking, with a a great small-batch range from premium Hunter Valley sites, Tumbarumba and Orange (as here), This Pinot Grigio is pure, yet textured. A little added weight through lees ageing and a little time in oak.A fine and focussed drop showcasing white flowers, creamy almond nougat and acid crunch. A welcome addition to Summer barbecues with friends.

A brilliant combination of flavours of citrus and honey dew and a great sense of minerality with a firm focus on low crops and supreme site selection.

Houghton Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

On the nose, intense gooseberry and tropical fruit aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc are balanced by herbaceous and freshly cut grass of the Semillon. The palate of this Houghton wine is refine with a length balanced crisp finish.

Logan Weemala Riesling

The fruit for this Riesling was grown on a vineyard in the Orange region, which is situated 1000m above sea level. In the glass: Pale lemon straw.On the nose: Pure lime lift with a touch of honeysuckle. On the palate: Intense and pure with a zesty core of lemon and lime, a quinine-like mouth-feel and long crisp acidity on to the almost chalky finish. Retrained yet powerful.
