Aromas of cherry, raspberries, red plum and sweet herbs are supported with lifted oak spice notes. Flavours of red plums, cherry and fig define the palate along with integrated varietal fine-grained tannins. A medium to full bodied wine that is complex and textural, with bright acid and a balanced finish.

The pride of Michelini stable, this Merlot was sourced from the mature Buckland vineyard. On the nose it offers violet fruit characters supported by vanilla oak and a solid mid palate weight and flavour with soft fruit tannins and firm oak finish.

So savoury, long and elegant with a delicious mix of secondary leather, tobacco and primary fruit richness blending seamlessley. A wine of character and brooding complexity.

In the glass: Very pale straw. On the nose: Pear, lemon, apple lift. On the palate: Very fresh and lively with a savoury mix of white fruit, a slightly nutty layer of complexity and a velvety mouth-feel.

Very aromatic with notes of ripe black and red fruits. In the palate, has a fruity start, very smooth and with concentrated red fruit flavours, well balanced with oak notes and a nice pronounced acidity. The fresh, yet fine tannins take over at finish, where flavours of spice and liquorice dominate.

The Nugan family named this wine after their grandfather, founder and inspiration - Alfredo Nugan. When a young Alfredo emigrated from Spain in 1940, he had a clear vision of his familys new life in Australia. Today, his legacy sees the Nugan family established as one of Australias most successful agricultural enterprises. Both the Sangiovese and Merlot are sourced from our Frascas Lane Vineyard in Victorias cool climate King Valley.
