Simply named from our address at Coldstream, the 864 range is a showcase of highly detailed micro-selections from the most exceptional single vineyard sites in the Yarra Valley. Sourced from the Henk Vineyard, Aqueduct Block. Planted in the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock in 2008 using the MV6 clone. Immediately, very expressive and aromatic. Mixed red fruits - pomegranate, red cherry, raspberry and cranberry infused with notes of mineral and flint. Then there’s an underlying spectrum of brown spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon and bergamot plus herbal flecks of sage and thyme derived from whole bunch fermentation. These flavours cascade over the palate which is richly textured and satiny-soft adding a sense of dimension and depth as it evolves and changes with air. At once, this is bright, fresh, savoury and complex. Deceptively powerful yet totally finessed.

This Pinot Noir comes from the Hazeldene Vineyard in Gladysdale, a north-facing site at 180 metres elevation. Planted in 1998 with the renowned MV6 clone, the vineyard’s red volcanic soils and cool climate produce wines of precision, purity and depth. A vibrant Pinot Noir with lifted aromas of red berries, florals and a hint of mountain herbs. Layers of boysenberry, plum and subtle bramble add depth, while a touch of carbonic lift from whole-bunch fermentation enhances complexity. The palate is supple and expressive, with juicy red berries, just-ripe raspberries and plums gliding across fine, silky tannins. An elegant elasticity in texture brings both grace and persistence. Balanced, complex and full of energy, this is a Pinot Noir with real presence and length.

An elegant, textural Viognier with superb balance achieved through assiduous harvesting. The fruit hails from the house block vineyard and is picked early, keeping the final alcohol in check and retaining enough acidity to complement the fragrant floral, apricot notes.

Oakridge 864 Block 1 Hazeldene Vineyard Pinot Noir 2024 exemplifies single-site expression from the upper reaches of the Yarra Valley. Sourced from north-facing vines planted in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale, this wine is crafted with meticulous hand-picking, a touch of whole-bunch fermentation, and careful ageing in French oak. The nose is vibrant, with lifted florals, fresh red berries, boysenberry and mountain herbs, and hints of subtle carbonic complexity. On the palate, vivid raspberry and plum characters glide along a net of silky, elastic tannins, with succulent fruit and fine structure carrying through to impressive depth and length.

Deep magenta in colour: aromatic and lifted with an array of scents that include: blood plum, red berries, smoky charcuterie, cinnamon, Szechuan pepper and the sweet smell of sous bois lingering in the background. This wine has grace and refinement yet it also shows restrained power. It becomes even more complex and tight with decanting and breathing for an hour or more. Dardel 2014 will be one of Paradise IV longest lived wines.
