First released in 1964 as the Great Western Hermitage, this descendant of the legendary wine shows dark berry fruit, spice and oak on the nose, while there's spice, chocolate, dark berry fruit and a touch of oak on the medium-bodied palate, finishing with fine, long tannins. The extra bottle age is evident but there's still plenty of life left. Deep crimson-purple; aromatic red and black fruit nuances on the bouquet lead into a gently spicy medium-bodied palate, which has true elegance and harmony. Back in 1998 Chief Winemaker, Chris Hatcher, decided it was time to take Wolf Blass into the modern world and the result was a single varietal Shiraz that was 100% aged in French Oak, unlike their famous flagship the Black Label which is a blend and aged in American Oak. A wonderful contemporary version of Wolf Blass that is a cavalcade of rich blueberry, blackberry and complex elements of dark chocolate and warm spice. Superbly long on the palate with an obvious hint to a long future in the cellar.

With powerful and vibrant dark berries, and underlying notes of savoury roasted nuts and black olive, this Cabernet Sauvignon has fine tannins and integrated subdued barrel characters to deliver an intricate wine with intensity.

A stylish blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a touch of Shiraz and Petit Verdot, from low yielding vineyards have produced another wine of elegance and class. Blackberry, mint and tobacco flavours are framed by fine tannin. The Shiraz adds some supple softness and the Petit Verdot adding aromatic lift. Another triumph!

The utterly sublime and exhilarating Langi Shiraz is typified by ethereal blackberry/ brambly/ dark cherry/ pepper/ violet aromas and flavours, supple textures, mid-palate buoyancy and underlying savoury oak. The grapes come from the "Langi Shiraz" block planted with "Swiss Clone material originally sourced from nearby Best's Concongella Vineyard. The granitic soils and cold south-westerlies are influential in producing its distinctive flavour profile. Meticulous attention to detail are behind the winemaking. After a cold soak the fruit (some whole bunch) is open-fermented with regular hand plunging. Some components complete fermentation in barrel. The wine is aged for around 14 months in new (45%) and seasoned French oak.

From premium Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the renowned Coonawarra region only the best fruit is used to produce an elegant dry red wine exhibiting intense varietal berry fruit characters and fine oak tannins.

Kaesler Alte Reben Shiraz was crafted using fruit sourced from the Marananga vineyard. Handpicked and left on skins for 7 days, the wine was pumped twice a day, followed by maturation in French oak. The resulting Shiraz wine obtained presents a deep red colour. Aromas of mulberry, blackberry, dark chocolate and espresso flow off the elegant bouquet. The scrumptious palate features juicy fruit flavours integrating with youthful oak tannins. This wonderful red varietal can be cellared gracefully for a few years. It tastes excellent with brisket, grilled lamb and beef stew.

Showcasing a bright ruby garnet hue, Maxwell Minotaur Reserve Shiraz exudes intense aromas of cherry, fresh nectarine and hints of leather from its attractive bouquet. The rich palate packs intense flavours of Satsuma plum, nutmeg and white pepper coupled with undertones of cedar oak and cocoa, which enhance the overall fruit profile. These vibrant characters fuse with fine tannins to provide a firm structure and length to the wine, ending in a powerful and persistent finale. This Minotaur Reserve Shiraz can either be enjoyed upon release or cellared for 12 to 15 years.

The fruit for the 2016 Vat 9 Shiraz was sourced from Tyrrells super premium vineyards on the Ashmans property with an average vine age of 50 years. Predominately from the Weinkeller and Short Flat vineyards. Winemaking The blocks were all hand picked and sorted in the vineyard before arriving at the winery. All the fruit was then destemmed but not crushed, followed by fermentation in traditional open top concrete vats. After fermentation the wiens were matured in newer 2700L French oak casks for ten months.
