A new label and new take on a classic. The Eileen Hardy Shiraz is juicy, plump and full of life with a magnificent backbone of tannin and spice without being overbearing. A classic in the making.

A much-loved South Aussie red, this blended red is rich in black fruits that fill the mouth. Raspberry, red currant and plum fruits are balanced with fine sandy tannins and cedar oak. This medium to full bodied wine has a lovely balance and style in true Church Block character. Church Block was the first wine the late Greg Trott produced under the Wirra Wirra label back in 1972. He took the name from one of the original vineyards, which runs next to the small Bethany Church (Est 1854) across the road from Wirra Wirras century old ironstone cellars. The Ambassador Story Haselgrove’s very own estate selected Shiraz has been very proudly named after our Ambassador, Les Burdett OAM. All individually numbered, with proceeds from the sale of the 3,030 bottles donated to Les Burdett’s charity of choice – Variety, the Children’s Charity. Tasting Notes Aroma The nose is rich and opulent with complex blackberry and liquorice aromas. A hint of sweet nutty spice complements the fresh fruit. Palate A bright black fruit palate with supporting French oak and layers of sweet spice and chocolate. Complex and alluring tannins give structure and elegance with bright natural acidity providing a mouth-watering and moreish finish.

Classic Shiraz flavors of cherry and red plum fill a generous body, complemented by more subtle notes of cinnamon, vanilla, and raspberry. These elements come together to form a complex core with an elegant, soft, and velvety tannin structure, leading to a deliciously lengthy finish.

Rich and opulent displaying aromas of deep plum and black cherry with hints of complex herb and delicate oak spice. The palate is full flavoured yet elegant with dark fruits and bright red berries, framed by firm, structural tannins and moreish acidity.

Two of the vineyards contributing to this wine are named "Inkwell"! A solid clue as to the wine's colour lies right there. One of the benchmark reds of McLaren Vale, The Vicar impresses yet again. Not just a big, dark thing, balance and buoyancy of fruit separate if from the pack of huge local reds. Careful cellaring has seen a touch of cured meat flavour emerge to complement the ample black, plummy, chocolate and spiced fruit cake layering. Cellar as long as you like or drink now with a prime cut.

The Vicar is one of Chapel Hill’s flagship wines and is an annual vineyard selection of Chapel Hill’s most outstanding and expressive parcels of McLaren Vale Shiraz. The vineyard blocks were harvested and fermented separately in small batch open fermenters. Gentle plunging was utilised for cap management and all of the ferments were left on skins for a range of 13 days to 22 days. Following gentle basket pressing, the free run and pressing fractions were combined. During the subsequent 21-month oak maturation period, the barrels were periodically racked and returned to ensure the integration of the tannins back into the structure of the wine. To preserve purity and character the wine is made with minimal additions and is allowed to clarify naturally without the use of fining or filtration. This is wonderfully opulent Vicar. Inky black and packed with blackberries, plums and dark chocolate with a twist of aniseed. The nose brims with a complex mix of wild herbs, violets, black liquorice and a sprinkle of wild fennel. A powerful wine that flows across your palate unveiling layers of delicious flavours and succulent tannins with an impossibly long finish. Purity in a glass.
