The Nugan family is dedicated to showcasing the best vareitals from our finest growing regions. Dry warm sunny days with cool nights produced optimum fruit flavours. After picking, the Shiraz was crushed and softly bag pressed in traditional style to avoid the extraction of bitter tannins. The wine was fermentated in static fermenters, followed by further maturation with new and seasoned French and American oak prior to final blending.

Retasting brings it back into perspective, the two varieties bonded, yet each preserving its varietal integrity and structural architecture. The Nugan family history spans three generations and more than 80 years, displaying determination and passion. This benchmark McLaren Vale Shiraz is a tribute to the drive and vision of the Matriarch of the Nugan Family, Michelle Carruthers Nugan.

It’s fabulously fruited and perfumed on the nose showing Black Doris plum, cherry, mixed spice and rich floral aromas, followed by a concentrated palate delivering considerable weight and persistency. It’s succulent and fleshy with a prolonged satisfying finish. At its best: now to 2036.

The Curtis family traces its history back to 1499 (not a typo, 523 years ago!) when Paolo Curtis was appointed by Cardinal de Medici to administer Papal lands in the area around Cervaro. The family has been growing grapes and making wine in McLaren Vale since 1973, having come to Australia some years previously. The Pasha McLaren Vale Shiraz pays homage to the ways of the past. Bursting with ripe red berries, Aromas of coconut & hints of vanilla. Full bodied palate structure with a complex mix of flavours, ripe red berries, coconut, chocolate & spice.
