What a coup to get this wine into our range. Certainly and deservedly one of the most highly regarded Rioja producers. These are the Riojas from which dreams are made. Think leather chesterfields, smoked meats and cigar-box.

The Reserva Tempranillo blend from iconic Riojan producer, Marqués de Riscal is made from fruit sourced from outstanding vineyard sites that are in excess of 15 years of age. This fruit is able to withstand the lengthy maturation process in oak due to the fine, complex tannin and acid structure. The resulting wine is classically savoury with notes of dark berries and toasty oak. The palate is long and rounded with interesting hint of spice.

Castillo Ygay Tempranillo from the famed Rioja region in Spain was one of the stars of the show at the recent Dan Murphy's Wines of the World Expo! Complex roasted chestnut/mocha/dark berry/leather fruit with superb richness, underlying savoury nuances and ripe chocolaty tannins. Although matured for 31 months in American oak, the oak and fruit integration is sublime.

Opaque cherry red. Rich fruit aromas (cherry, black plum jam) with spicy (green peppercorn) and smoky notes. Intense, warm, with firm tannins nicely structured by oak ageing and a backbone of subtle fruit acidity. Designed to pair perfectly with new trends in avant-garde cuisine. Excellent with all kinds of tapas prepared with fresh ingredients; red meat, oil-rich fish and cheeses. Equally exquisite with cured Ibérico pork. Serve at 14–16°C.

Biga is a Cherry coloured wine of medium intensity, a modern crianza wine with a fruit-driven palate and complex nuances contributed by fine Wood. In the nose, delicate aromas evoking fresh and clean fruit with hints of leather, spices and fine Woods. Light and pleasant in the mouth with a distinctive touch of freshness. White and red meats, roast Lamb, pork of beef, game, pultry, stewed meats, rice dishes, stewed vegetables, mushrooms, cured and blue cheeses.

A very enticing nose of sweet berries, a hint of leather and freshly ground coffee. This is 100% Tempranillo and great value for genuine, honest Rioja. There's spades of earthiness and fresh herbs alongside cedary notes from toasty barrels. Medium bodied, this shows a modern take with vibrant fruit and less oak than the Riojas of the past.
