Cosme Palacio Cosecha Rioja

Upon much deliberation, our overall masked winner revealed a style and character that provided us with a fairly clear cut insight into the modern day advances of a region etched in history and tradition. Cosme Palacio consistently produces one of our favourite Riojas that always offers incredible value for money. Produced predominantly from Tempranillo grown in cool, relatively high altitude sites, this is modern Rioja that's bright and ready to go thanks to a touch of bottle age. It's medium bodied with fine tannins and juicy in the mouth. Black fruits dominate the flavour profile with some delicate cedar and earthy notes adding complexity to a delicious example from this much loved region.

Sancho Garces Spoon & Fork Tempranillo

Sancho Garces pays homage to King Sancho Garcés III el Mayor, king of the Kingdom of Pamplona between 1004 and 1035, who promoted the pilgrimage route of the Camino of Santiago, or Way of St. James, and built hospitals and lodging. Sancho Garces presents aromas of fresh fruit and liquorice. Soft tannins, very well-balanced and easy-drinking.

RedHeads Vin’Atus

Cune Reserva Tempranillo

Brilliant ruby ​​red in color with deep garnet hints. Intense on the nose, with aromas of red fruits and liquorice being well integrated with notes from aging in barrel such as spices, toffees and tobacco leaves. On the palate is smooth, long and elegant due to its velvety tannin, with a fruity and sweet finish. Perfect for pairing with every type of dishes of the Mediterranean diet. Marqués de Riscal Próximo is a new addition to the Marqués range and is a bright and fruit driven Rioja style sourced from slightly younger Tempranillo vines. Very strict parcel selection along with traditional picking techniques, this Rioja is bursting with dark blackberry fruit with notes of rich, ripe plums. Hints of liquorice and star anise also give the wine a superb backbone that is perfectly suited many Mediterranean cuisines.

Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Rioja

Castillo Ygay Tempranillo from the famed Rioja region in Spain was one of the stars of the show at the recent Dan Murphy's Wines of the World Expo! Complex roasted chestnut/mocha/dark berry/leather fruit with superb richness, underlying savoury nuances and ripe chocolaty tannins. Although matured for 31 months in American oak, the oak and fruit integration is sublime.

Chalk Hill Tempranillo Grenache

A classic red blend based on the Spanish region of Rioja. A blend of 60% Tempranillo, 35% Grenache and 5% Graciano. The Tempranillo provides structure, the Grenache perfume and bright red fruits, whilst the Graciano brings layers of spice. It's medium bodied, yet full of flavour.
