NX Gen Grenache

Crafted from two unique McLaren Vale vineyards as our celebration of Grenache - 1947 planted Grenache bush vines growing in deep sand and 1990 planted single-wire trellised vines.Medium deep, dark cherry in colour. Lifting fragrant aromas of strawberry/raspberry jujube, rose petal, lavender, cinnamon and star anise. Flavours of dark cherry, pomegranate and chocolate earth flow through the medium weight palate. Fine tannins and natural acidity focus the fruit into the moreish, savoury finish.

Pertaringa Two Gents GSM

Story:A testament to the co-founders of Pertaringa, Geoff Hardy, and Ian Leask - true gentlemen showing depth and generosity of character, just like our GSM. Vineyard:50% Grenache from Zuzolo Vineyard, Plains Rd, Sellicks Hill, 30% Shiraz from Klaveniek Vineyard on McMurtrie Road, and 20% from Rogers Rd at Sellicks Hill. Soils:Zuzolo vineyard is on the Willunga Escarpment on Orange/Brown Piedmont clay loam with rock layers dispersed throughout the profile consisting of Quartzite, Sandstone, Shale, and Quartz from the Ngaltinga Formation. Klaveniek is cracking Bay of Biscay soil from the Kurrajong formation and Rogers Road Vineyard is Christies Beach geology formation on sandy loam. Harvest Date:28 March (Grenache), 15 March (Shiraz), 26 March (Mourvedre) Winemaking:All varieties were fermented separately and aged 9 months in seasoned French oak before the final blend, which happened just before bottling. Nose:The nose offers elegant and attractive aromas of red berries, plums, white pepper, and black olives. Palate:The palate is vibrant and complex with red berries and plums, followed by a long, smooth finish. Cellaring:Drink now to 2029.

Chapel Hill McLaren Vale Bush Vine Grenache

Some would say McLaren Vale is the spiritual home of Australian Grenache. We are not about to start arguing when Grenache like this one from Chapel Hill are produced. Generous rich red fruits with smattering of dried herbs and a fleshy mid-palate. There is real concentration and complexity to this wine.

Yangarra Old Vine Grenache

While certainly lighter, more elegant, and a different style to that of some of previous years, the 2011 vintage is one of the greatest Grenache vintages Yangarra has ever produced. The white pepper spice is telling of such a cool year, and is married with bright cherries and raspberry alongside complex hints of liquorice, chicory and cured meats. The tannins are fine and delicate, and the acidity alike.

S C Pannell Basso Garnacha

Former Gourmet Traveller WINE Winemaker of the Year and two-time Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy winner Stephen Pannell loves working with Grenache, and is justly seen as one of Australia's foremost proponents with the grape. This juicy, vibrant, drink-now style is 100% Grenache from Blewitt Springs and McLaren Vale. Hand harvested at 13.5 Baumé. Free run juice with minimal pressings vinified, with malolactic fermentation in stainless steel and only 25ppm liquid sulphur dioxide added through the process. Raised in 2500L French vats for six months, racked and sent to bottle without filtration.The wine shows fresh-fruit aromas of bright red berries and watermelon, with a touch of rose petal and musk leading on to a plush and juicy palate. It's youthful, medium-bodied and lively, with a long, succulent finish bolstered by sandy tannins and a hint of dark spice.

With origins in Spain and southern France, where he still regularly distinguishes himself, this impressive figure first set foot here in 1840 and today also calls South Australia home. The Governor General may have been around a while but has an eye to the future. He mixes effortlessly, but is bold enough to stand alone. Possessed of great potential strength and power, he more often displays his lighter side, with seductive charm and finesse. For many, his approachable style is very refreshing, and even at his most chilled, you’ll always receive a warm welcome.

XO Wine Co Grenache

This small batch Grenache from McLaren Vale was a combination of three unique vineyards with different fermentation methods to create a wine with layers and complexity. It was handcrafted to produce a wine portraying the gently sloping sandy loam landscape with tranquil tree lined creek peaceful vineyard views in which it is grown. This refined and elegant, yet bold McLaren Vale Grenache was produced to showcase one of McLaren Vales greatest varietals. It uses small amounts of wholebunch in the ferment to lift the spiciness of the wine and reign in the richness. A portion of carbonic maceration adds lift and fragrance while the balance destemmed only gives power and drive. Blackcurrant, plums and hints of raspberries are entwined with spice and pepper notes. Well balanced acidity and refined velvety tannins combine with generous fruit length to create a comp.
