Produced from premium, old vine McLaren Vale fruit, the Angels Share bursts with bramble and blackberry fruit combining some spice nuances and subtle oak. Silky smooth, it showcases all the hallmarks of McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Deep ruby red with a lovely youthful violet hue. A fragrant nose of fresh blueberries, a little vanillin, mixed spice, cedar and a floral hint of perfumed violets. Approachable, graceful palate of mulberry and blueberry compote. Up front, juicy flesh of plum with underlying notes of chocolate coated coffee beans, mint, black pepper, and a hint of earthy truffles. A solid backbone of supporting acidity extends these characters towards the finish.

This sensational Shiraz is made by the “exceptionally gifted” Elena Brooks (Halliday). Her medal cabinet bulges with Trophies and Golds won all over the world, and she regularly earns seriously high scores from acclaimed wine critics. Just recently, Elena’s Dandelion Vineyards also won the Southern Hemisphere Winery of the Year Trophy in the US. How does she do it? With a lot of skill, and a lot of passion, like the kind that went into the Lioness. The 2016 has already won TWO Gold medals and a rare Platinum - plus a stellar 96 points from the San Diego Wine Competition. You can look foward to cherry liqueur and chocolate aromas, while on the palate, lush, red fruits jostle with black cherries, plums, dark chocolate, vanilla and sweet spice. Attractive deep black-red in the glass. Soft and rich berry fruits on the palate. Fine tannins on the finish allow the berry flavours to linger elegantly. The vines are grown on the sandy soil of Blewitt Springs, machine-harvested, crushed, 7 days on skins, matured for 18 months in various hogsheads.

This is the third release of this wine drawing fruit from our Blewitt Springs vineyard sitting on sandy soil offering excellent drainage and resistance to disease and this year using Grenache from our friends at Dog Ridge. The wise old ladies from Blewitt Springs (shiraz) have teamed up with spicy Grenache from McLaren Flat producing fruit of uncommon intensity and flavour. Colour Purple Black.Aroma A beautiful array of complex ripe fruits combined with subtle oak aromas. Aromas of boysenberry, mulberry, currants, cinnamon and nutmeg.Palate Sweet, generous, rich and spicy. Very soft and rounded with balanced tannin and acidity. A lovely complex integrated wine that will drink well for 15 years.The berry was from premium vineyards with sandy loam soil profiles that consistently deliver wines of richness and finesse. Picked at perfect flavour maturity, gently crushed, then fermented at low temperatures to harness the fruit flavours. After 10 days fermenting on skins for colour and flavour extraction the wines were then pressed to French oak for ageing. Time in the oak barrel was 18 months.

From the foothills of McLaren Vale this blend shows the generosity of Shiraz combined with the earthiness of Mataro to make a plump, well rounded blend thats generous and warm. A perfect wine for a chargrilled steak
