Ninth Island Pinot Noir is a sensational cool-climate Pinot Noir from the makers of Piper's Brook. Tasmania is now recognised as a world class Pinot region and with wines of this quality one can see why!

Based in Nuits-St-Georges, the famous Domaine Faiveley was founded in 1825 and in more recent times, the domaine has greatly expanded its vineyards across the entire Côte d'Or. The grapes are entirely destemmed and fermented in a mix of new wooden vats for the top end wines and stainless steel for the lesser cuvées. This Pinot noir has a beautiful ruby colour. It has pleasant, fresh, red-fruit aromas on the nose, which we find again on the palate. It has rich and very ripe substance, with fine round tannins. It's a very well-structured and pleasing wine.

This Pinot noir is the flagship from Two Paddocks an organically grown barrel selection from the estate properties. As in the vineyard, the wine is hand crafted using traditional methods including a 25% whole bunch indigenous fermentation and hand plunging. Maturation is in French barriques for 11 months, using a mix of older and new (25%) barrels.

Charming red berry fruits with a dash of spice and soft tannins. Like most Australians, we love a drop of pinot noir and this drop by the Zilzie wines clan is a great example of how lighter in alcohol does not mean lighter in flavour. Fragrant spice, cherry and strawberry, with subtle undertones of sweet oak dominate the nose, with full juicy cherry, rhubarb and spice flavours hitting the palate with oomph. Taylors produce a surprise packet of a Pinot Noir at a very attractive price. Bright cherry colour complemented by a nose of strawberry and spice. Flavours of ripe cherries follow and lingers nicely on the palate.
