Over three generations the Barry name has been famous throughout the wine world and synonymous with the Clare Valley. Jim Barry bought his first vineyard here in 1959, and even helped the Taylor family open their winery a decade later. Son Peter took over Jim Barry in 1985, and today brothers Tom and Sam, with sister Olivia, have raised the bar even higher. The Barrys’ vineyards along the valley’s Eastern Ranges, which sit between 480 and 500 metres above sea level...as Tom Barry explains: “You have 35 degree days but it will get well down below 10 degrees in the nights which really helps you build flavour and ripen the grapes evenly without high alcohol levels."

Sangiovese has been gaining popularity and importance in the Australian wine scene as a replacement to traditional varieties not only for its versatility. but also for its excellent adaptability to our local growing conditions. It finds in Clare Valley some of the best terroir in the country and this first release of the Tim Adams Sangiovese is the result of years of experimentation by the winemaking team and extensive tastings of great examples from its homeland in central Italy. This medium bodied wine is packed with crunchy wild berries. cranberry compote and savoury notes of dried herbs and spicy oak. All supported by a refreshing acidity and firm but fine tannins typical of Sangiovese that gives it length and persistence on the palate.
