Mastrojanni Brunello di Montalcino

Deep dark red core with black shaded edges and a red to brick red hue. Spicy red currant and red cherry aromas tinged with hints of rose petals are followed by earth, tobacco, dried herb and subtle graphite like notes. Medium bodied spicy ripe red currant and red cherry fruits are underpinned by graphite like tannins and vibrant acidity. Notions of scorched earth, tobacco and dried herbs ensue. Concludes long and spicy with a rustic feel. Drink over the next 6-8 years. Alc. 14.5%

Giodo

Giodo Brunello di Montalcino DOCG The Brunello is a wine of immense presence. It commands you from the first sniff; both grape material and vintage show their full class. This wine spends around 30 months in large casks (500-700 litre) followed by additional time in concrete before resting in bottle for a further 18 months.

Casanova Di Neri Tenuta Nuova

San Polino Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

San Polino is the first biodynamic estate in Brunello, and they’re a subscriber to the saying, ‘wine is made in the vineyard’. It shows. A tiny producer, they make this biodynamic red from the highest vineyards on the San Polino site. There’s a little time in French oak, before 3 years ageing in large Slavonian oak. Brooding, but fresh, with black and blue fruits galore, tied down by red cherry-like acidity and fine, strapping tannins. Yet, there’s also layers of licorice and tobacco, along with a coffee bean-like energy and a raspberry-like simplicity. This simplicity belies the layers; polished yes, but complex and oozing potential. It’s a wine that had James Suckling say ‘wow’. Long, perfumed, youthful. Age, decant. Love it long time

Fontodi Vigna del Sorbo Chianti Classico

Vigna del Sorbo has is pure Sangiovese from old vines soures in one of the vineyards of Fontodi. Only natural methods are used. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels for 24 months.
