Alphonse Mellot Domaine De La Moussiere Sancerre

From a remarkable and best kept vineyards in the Loire Valley, everything is done by hand, with biodynamic philosophies and to strict standards. Meticulous winemaking follows with 50% of the wine undergoing barrel fermentation and aged on its fine lees for 12 months, imparting balance and texture. Intense citrus flavours with satin textured fruit, balanced by savoury, chalky tones and a long, cool, tangy finish.

J. de Villebois Pouilly Fume

Yellow-green pale color. The subtle nose reveals a combination of smoky and ripe fruit favors. The palate is dominated by the favors of candied pineapple, peach and mango. An elegant acidity supporting the typical “smoky” favors of Pouilly Fumé completes this great Pouilly-Fumé.

Gerard Boulay Sancerre

Organic. As always, this was drawn from mature, 35- to 40-year-old vines rooted entirely in the limestone soils of Chavignol. The multiple sites are largely sloping vineyards on the lower flanks of the Chavignol hillside terroirs of Les Chasseignes, Les Longues Fins and La Rue de Vaux. Importantly, Boulay also includes fruit from his younger vines growing on the great hillsides of Clos de Beaujeu, Monts Damnés and La Grande Côte. The juice was naturally fermented and aged for nine months in tank on lees, with a small volume also fermented in a single large wooden cask.

Domaine Benoît Chauveau La Charmette Pouilly Fumé

The Chauveau family have been making wine since the 19th Century, and in the mid 1990s Benoit Chauveau gradually took over the vineyards of his grandparents and parents. Today, their property has over 17 hectres including of Pouilly Fumé, Pouilly sur Loire and Coteaux du Giennois. A new cellar was added to the estate for the 2012 harvest. Their approach is to continually strive to improve the quality of their wines through the development of sustainable methods. Domaine Benoît Pouilly Fumé is a dry white wine, made from 100 % Sauvignon grapes and produced only by the Domaine’s own vineyards. It is vinified, bottled at the domain and marketed by us in France and in about twenty countries. The 2020 vintage is pale, crystalline yellow with green tints. Racy nose combining citrus fruits, delicate minerality and blackcurrant bud. Well-balanced, light, tense palate revealing great quality aromatics with restrained exuberance. Lovely clean characters and precision. Pouilly Fumé makes a delightful aperitif. It is also perfect with seafood, fish both grilled and in sauce, scallops and white meats.

Domaine de Ladoucette Sancerre 'Comte Lafond'

Beautiful crystalline dress, pale gold. First citrus fruits (orange peel and lemon), then summer fruits (white peach and pear) finally honey notes on a subtle background of peppermint... an excellent complexity that translates richness and elegance. The lively and very frank attack precedes the acidulous roundness of the summer fruits expressed by the nose which are mingled with the refreshing flavors of exotic fruits (lychee, mango). Then, in delicate harmony, the fat and smells of fresh almond and pear are revealed. The finish, based on a stony minerality, is prolonged on notes of very ripe lemon. Owned by the Ladoucette family since 1788, the Domaine De Ladoucette is the largest and most famous holding in the Pouilly area. The 165 hectare vineyard accounts for 10% of the production of the Pouilly-Fume appellation and the stunning Château du Nazet dominates the countryside. The estate is acclaimed at producing some of the finest Sauvignon Blancs in the region, in particular the top cuvee, Baron de L, a wine only produced in the top vintages from the best parcels of fruit of the estate. Pale, vivid and flinty these are terroir-driven wines and the Baron de L in particular is renowned for its ability to age.
