The wine is soft, textural and easy drinking, best served chilled. ‘There has been a concerted effort here to work the wines less, as a means to craft intuitive expressions of heart and site. And it shows! Harvested at the point of optimal flavour and freshness. The scents are a saline scrimmage of rose petals, musk, bergamot, verbena, quince and mandarin. The mid-palate is plump and juicy. The finish, long and mellifluous, flecked with salt crystals and mineral pungency. Reliant more on chew than any sense of tweaked freshness. The colour is a dark red with youthful purple hues. On the aroma, there's dark cherry, bright raspberry, violets, spice and some meaty, savoury notes. The palate is wonderfully flavoursome and balanced with fine subtle tannins, generous fruit and good length

Redolent with bright red fruits, tart cranberries and musky spice. Black plum and fresh rhubarb slide across the palate. Sweet fruit is perfectly balanced by subtle savoury notes.

A delicious mouthful of McLaren Vale Shiraz. Paxton has generous ripe black fruits, sweet spice, liquorice and rich chocolate flavours on the palate. Framed by savoury oak and silky fine tannins with a lengthy finish.

Pirramimma Stock's Hill Shiraz has bright cherry aromas with sweet oak and a hint of spice give this wine real appeal on the nose. The palate is rich with flavours of blackberry and chocolate balanced by grippy tannins. Great value!

Chapel Hill makes great value wines in the maritime climate of McLaren Vale. This Shiraz is a beauty. Dark berries and vanillin oak are evident in the bouquet with spice coming through on the palate.

This sterling-value red fizz has really grown up, with a more-ish premium mouthful of sun-ripened vibrant blackberries now tuned with liquorice and white pepper notes. Ravishing!

Oliver's Taranga have a long and distinguished history in the McLaren Vale and are custodians of some of the premier vineyard land in the region. Corrina Wright is now the winemaking brain behind this progressive winery and her Shiraz is a modern masterstroke. Smoke and bacon on the nose with sweet and savoury tones. Soft fruit flavours luscious mouth feel and great length to this wine. Delicious.
