Two Hands Ares Shiraz Flagship Series

Inspired by the myths of ancient Greece the Flagship Series is headed by Ares, the bold, passionate and strong God of War, a perfect fit for the pinnacle of the Two Hands Collection. Shiraz is at the heart of the Two Hands story and our vineyard selections give us access to some of the greatest parcels of Shiraz grapes in the country. Each year, every one of the 1,500 barrels is tasted in the search for the very finest cuvée to represent Ares, the pinnacle of our Shiraz production.

Two Hands Aphrodite Cabernet Sauvignon Flagship Series

Inspired by the myths of ancient Greece the Flagship Series is headed by our Ares Shiraz. Aphrodite was the true love of Ares, and their love story is one of the greatest of all time. With a strong commitment to the philosophy of ‘quality without compromise’, Two Hands Wines use a strict classification process to ensure that only the best barrels each vintage are deemed worthy of being bottled as a Flagship Series wine. Six months after vintage, a selection of barrels from our best parcels of fruit are carefully assessed by Chief Winemaker Richard Langford, looking for the finest cuvee and given a classification grade associated with its place in the Two Hands portfolio. With this focus on detail, it means only the best barrels make it through and quality is maintained even in the toughest vintages, albeit at lower quantities. Each year, only a handful of barrels come in at the top of the class, scoring an A+; these barrels become wines in our Flagship Series. These ultra-premium wines represent the very finest varietal selections from each vintage.

Wynns Michael Shiraz

Langton's Classification: Excellent

Wynns Michael Shiraz is a 'best-of-vintage' Shiraz from Wynns vineyard sites in Coonawarra and is named after David Wynn's youngest son. Made in the years that best show Coonawarra's unique terroir, this latest release displays the qualities that have made the 'Michael' one of the most highly regarded of all Australian Shiraz with aromas of red currants, cherries and raspberry that mesh every so well with the olive and white spice characters. The palate follows with an elegant structure bursting with dark brooding spice and succulent ripe tannins.

Taylors The Pioneer Shiraz

This wine is generous and rounded at first with juicy, deep berry compote fruits then yielding to a tightly woven frame of firm yet generous tannins. There are alluring, coconutty oak and fine dark chocolate characters, with a deep, soft centre of ripe berry fruits. Elegant acids and light, long tannins carry the palate to deliver a lingering finish.

Grant Burge Meshach Shiraz

Langton's Classification: Outstanding

Meshach William Burge was Grant's great grandfather and was a central figure in establishing the Burge family in the Barossa Valley. This Shiraz named in his honour is sourced from old vines, some nearing 100 years old, and shows aromas and flavours of complex swiss chocolate, savoury spices and red currant. Grant Burge's flagship shiraz will reward the patient cellarer with 20 years in the bottle in front of it.

Guigal Hermitage Rouge

E. Guigal, located in Ampuis, was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal. Since 1961 his son Marcel has led the estate, and his unparalleled work ethic and dedication to quality have brought attention to Côte-Rôtie and other appellations throughout the Rhone that were in danger of being lost, and lifted the Guigal wines to the pinnacle of the wine world. Hermitage is one of Frances most spectacular and famous appellations, producing small quantities of extraordinarily intense and age worthy red wine. 'The 2009 Hermitage possesses a dense purple color as well as lots of creme de cassis, camphor and acacia flowers. The Guigal family may be the modern worlds greatest testament to a family-run winery with impeccably high standards, integrity and an uncompromising vision of the future. They continue to push the envelope of quality to greater and greater heights.' 92-95 Points | Robert Parker.
