The Langi Shiraz block at Mount Langi Ghiran is planted with Swiss clone material originally sourced from nearby Bests Concongella Vineyard. Postmodern vinification includes open fermentation with some whole bunch and regular hand plunging, followed by partial barrel fermentation. Maturation takes place for around 14 months in new (45%) and seasoned French oak. The expressive Langi Shiraz is typified by ethereal blackberry, brambly dark cherry and pepper aromas, supple textures and underlying savoury oak.

The fruit source for this wine is from the last remaining 2.54Ha block of Ancestor Shiraz Vines planted by Thomas Hardy in 1891. This wine is rich, generous and full-bodied. Deep, dark fruits, opulent and succulent. Fine, supple tannins lead through to a persistently long finish.

Grapes vinified from one of the world's oldest Grenache vineyards, planted circa 1868 at the Stonegarden Vineyard, Eden Valley. Matured in 100% fine French oak for two years and bottled unfiltered and unfined. Limited production.

The Barossa is home to some of the world’s oldest ungrafted Shiraz vines. The vines were planted in a pre-mechanized and pre-irrigation era where site selection was everything. Dry grown as bush vines with only the best soils, vine material and sites surviving the first years, and only the absolute pinnacle surviving the 100 years thereafter. The low-yielding ‘Centenarian’ vines, noted for their intensity of flavour, were planted more than a century ago around the time construction of the Château itself began. The select parcels are hand-picked and fermented in small open fermenters with hand plunging four times daily before careful basket pressing to extract tannin and colour. Very deep purple. There's plenty of extract on the nose with deep plummy fruit aromas set against a finely-measured backdrop of smoky oak. It's succulent in the mouth, silky in flow, long and deep in flavour, with ripe tannins in excellent balance. A deceptively easy wine to sip in youth because of its inherent balance, but it should live for many years yet.
