The Savaterre vineyard is elevated at 430m above sea level and is farmed along organic principles. No pesticides are used. An incredibly complex, lifted, lively and intense nose. Exotic aromas of smoked meats, dried red rose, allspice, clove, dark plum, dark cherry ,blackberry, mulberry, mandarin, violets, sandalwood, bay and funky undergrowth. This aroma really revs me up, it continues to evolve as time goes by. This wine is alive! Complexity, poise, sinewy acid, fine tannins wrapped around a sleek core of pristine dark fruit. Deakin Estate Shiraz is a perfect match for red meat and Italian style dishes, this wine shows ripe plums, rasberries, and spice in harmony with subtle toasty oak.

Shiraz grapes harvested in amazing growing conditions, with the fruit portraying great concentration, texture and balance. This juicy and flavour-filled vintage was used to craft a marvellous Shiraz wine showing a bold violet-red hue. Lifted red berry and spice notes flow off the bouquet, while the smooth palate structure features rich dark berry and chocolate flavours. This wine is fit for consumption upon release or can be cellared for about 8 to 10 years. Five-spice lamb, tandoori lamb chops and grilled bison dishes taste wonderful with this elegant Shiraz varietal.

The Ridge of Tears wines range is homage to Peter Logan's late ancestors. Ridge of Tears Mudgee Shiraz is a deep dark red coloured wine. The complex aroma of this dry red wine mixes florals, dark cherries, mulberries and plums, that further fuse with warm spices, liquorice and a little touch of fresh earth. The medium to full bodied palate displays plum, berry and spice flavours with a mineral core and grainy tannins. The palate presents a soft texture, before leading to a long finish. The wine tastes good with venison, grilled or roast beef, and strong hard cheeses especially Cheddar.

On the palate ripe berries, rich fruitcake and chocolate flavours can be noted, along with a silky smooth and velvety finish. Dense fully body with an aromatic display of dark fruit, spicy oak and sweet tobacco. Lovely full bodied wine that is sweet and fruity in the mouth. Very flavoursome with well balanced oak.

The wine displays a strong bouquet of blackberry and earth, with a soft but pronounced tannin structure. The hand-picked fruit was fermented in small open fermenters, and hand plunged several times daily. 2014 was an excellent vintage, and the perfect opportunity to start a flagship red. Beautiful winter rain, set us up with excellent vineyard balance. We had a great vintage, with warm conditions allowing perfect ripening across all varieties. A soft but pronounced tannin structure. Jacob was awarded the Gourmet Traveller Young Winemaker of the Year award in 2012, further proof of his achievements in Mudgee. Robert Stein Winery has also been consecutively awarded a James Halliday 5 star winery in The Wine Companion since 2010.

Brilliant colour, dense red right to the edge. Sweet, blackberry and mulberry nose highlighted with French Oak. Fruit, wood, alcohol and tannins are combining for a wonderful long finish. Medium bodied, will only get better with time. In balance now, but it would be a shame to drink it too soon – 2018 onwards.

Shiraz from Orange is quite unique in style compared to most other regions in Australia and is more reminiscent of the Northern Rhone, France. The Idiot Shiraz is a young wine that has a lovely colour deep red with some purple hues. The aroma is spicy, lifted and intense. There is an appealing liquorice character to the intense fruit aromas. Bright full fruit flavours in a medium-bodied package; classic cool area shiraz some spice integrated with red fruits; lovely soft tannins and finish.
