Handpicked in three passes through the vineyard, only selecting the perfect bunches on each run. The fruit was destemmed to small open fermenters for a brief cold soaking period where intense colour was gained immediately. Fermented at 18-25 ?C for approximately 9 days. Gently pressed to large format French oak barrels (~20% new) for almost 12 months maturation, before blending and bottling. Deep purple. Intense dark fruits coupled with lovely spice and red berries. Structural with powerful fruit, a long intense palate with seamless tannin.

This wine is medium bodied, brightly coloured with an array of berries pepper and spices on the nose combined with coffee aromas. The palate is soft and long with distinctly savoury characters, finishing with velvet tannins. It is a delicate wine, focused on balance and structure.

Made using grapes from vines over 100 years old. Colour is mid cherry red with purple highlights. Wine has aromas of plums, blackberries and roasted red and brown spice with subtle chocolate oak. The palate is medium bodied with red fruit flavours and soft spicy oak and a long velvety finish.

2022 was a wet season in the Hunter region with over 180 millimetres of rainin February alone. Mild weather and cooler conditions delayed harvest untilthe sun and welcoming winds dried out the vineyards. All was not lost, as the longer season introduced excellent flavours, natural acids and complexity intothe wines. This single vineyard wine produced by Cael's Gate was made from vinesplanted in 1971. This wine is richly fruited and impressively concentrated withrefinement and sophistication. This Shiraz shows dark berry, violet, warm spiceand cedary oak characters on the nose, followed by a gracefully powerfulpalate offering silky texture and fine tannins. Mouth filling and elegantlyopulent with a sustained satisfying finish.

This Shiraz Pinot red blend from the Hunter Valley was made from hand harvested grapes, and then whole berry fermented without stalks. The fruit flavours have been enhanced by gentle winemaking techniques. Aged for just 3 months in old French oak, this results in a medium bodied wine with flavours of mulberries, plums and cherries, and soft sweet tannins.

McWilliam's Mount Pleasant Maurice O'Shea Shiraz continues lead the pack of great Hunter Valley Shiraz. A lovely return to old form, this Maurice has a striking purple hue to it in the glass. To the nose aromas of liquorice and spice with hints of cedar will beguile. Layers of complex flavours dance across the palate including savoury, spicy dark fruits like dark plums and cherries. De Iuliis Estate Shiraz is a deep-red coloured wine with a vibrant purple hue. The wine is savoury, earthy and spicy on the nose with a touch of cherry, blackcurrant and plum. The palate has a soft mouthfeel from fine-grained tannins and captivates with flavours of ripe plums and blackberries. This medium to full-bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz will continue to improve with careful cellaring. Enjoy it with BBQ lamb cutlets or red sauce pasta.
