2015 was a very good year for Bin 389. Some say it was the best wine of the Penfolds release in its graduate year. Deeply coloured, unhurried in its evolution, still loads of buoyant fruit impact at the front, then descending, Penfolds-style, into a multi-faceted, deeply flavoured, smoothly edged charmer. Distinctively "cabernet", and clinging to its youth tenaciously, the 2015 Bin 407 is only just starting to show some evolution. The elegant tannins are beginning to resolve, the dense, dark fruit softening - the layers melding. Cassis, black currant, mocha and mint flavours shine through. There's lots more to this multi-layered wine for you to discover. It's exciting to drink top cabernets like this, but no need to hurry - it's a brilliant drink now, and will continue to improve for ten years.

Back in 1998 Chief Winemaker, Chris Hatcher, decided it was time to take Wolf Blass into the modern world and the result was a single varietal Shiraz that was 100% aged in French Oak, unlike their famous flagship the Black Label which is a blend and aged in American Oak. A wonderful contemporary version of Wolf Blass that is a cavalcade of rich blueberry, blackberry and complex elements of dark chocolate and warm spice. Superbly long on the palate with an obvious hint to a long future in the cellar.
