A tight and complex bouquet of dried plum, fresh almond, blood plum, smoked meats, concentrated cherry, blueberry preserve, ginger, glazed prune and clove. In all pretty it’s thrilling, what greets you on the palate flows through to the palate, with a band of deep but amazingly light fruits, an ironstone searing penetration builds up and then slowly flows away, the fruit depth here is admiral and the balance is so pure that this will age quite effortlessly for an extended time.

The wine is delightfully fruited and seductively complex on the nose showing dark fruit richness together with nuances of warm spice, cedar and violet. The Hill Block straddles the ridge running through the Chapel Hill estate. The wine was then aged for 19 months in 100% tight grained French oak. The proportion of new oak was kept low to encourage the continued expression of the characters that are unique to the vineyard site.
