Tar & Roses can not only be used to describe the wonderful Meditteranean aromas and flavours of this Heathcote winery, but also the wonderful team of Don Lewis and Narelle King! This Heathcote Sangiovese shows the classical sour cherry flavours with a balanced and integrated structure that is crying out for a antipasto plate.

Winemaker Justin Bubb splits his year between Tasmania (Pooley Wines) and Tuscany, where he makes a delicious collection of wines under the Babo label. There are a couple of firsts here; this is the first Chianti to be bottled under screwcap and it's one of the first to be bottled in a Burgundy bottle as opposed to the traditional Claret shape (for the Fiasco wicker bottle!) For this Chianti-Beaujolais hybrid, Justin has employed whole berry fermentation with roughly 30% carbonic maceration, simply fermented and then raised in concrete vats for six months. It's a wonderfully bright and aromatic Sangiovese with notes of raspberry and red cherry, good texture and lightweight tannins, with sappy acidity and a thirst quenching finish.

Dry, pleasant and vinous. Fresh bouquet with flowers notes. Ideal with roasted meats, red grilled meats and hard cheeses.

FONTODI Flaccianello Della Pieve, Colli Della Toscana Centrale IGT

Santa Margherita Chianti Classico hails from the historic Tuscan region of Chianti; the spiritual home of Sangiovese. This exciting Sangio has an intense ruby red colour with faintly garnet tones. The initial aromatic sensations are sweetish and vanilla-like, typical of wines matured in barriques. The clean, ethereal bouquet then highlights Sangioveses spicy notes. On the palate we again find very well integrated oak which soon gives way to hints of wild berry fruit preserve and to that nuance of spices we perceived on the nose.

Sensi Collezione Sangiovese Toscana IGT is a smooth and velvety red wine with a vanilla and tobacco-hinted finish. Enjoy this wine with red meat, game and aged cheese.

The wine is vibrant ruby in colour. It displays notes of blueberries and strawberries on the nose. The palate is full of firm tannins with hints of blackberries and chocolate with a persistent finish.Enjoy now or cellar for up to 10 yearsThe fruit for this wine was derived from cuttings of our grandfathers original family vineyard in Tuscany.This is an indigenous variety specific to the Stefani family. Swings & Roundabouts Rosé is a beautiful blend produced by the fusion of 59% Malbec with 12.5% Sangiovese and 28.5% Tempranillo grapes. These luscious fruit parcels were picked in the cool of the night and chilled with skin contact. The juice obtained by cold pressing was fermented and then bottled. The resulting blend features a pale coral pink hue. Fresh aromas of spicy fruits fuse with light bramble notes to flaunt a fragrant bouquet. The fruity and vibrant palate packs juicy tropical fruit flavours, supported by crisp and sparkling acidity. These enticing characters provide a soft texture, culminating the wine in a lively and persistent finish. Made for consumption upon release, this magnificent Rosé tastes lovely with ham hock croquette with herb aioli and goat cheese.
