Umamu Estate UMAMU Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River
Umamu create exquisite handcrafted wines. Each bottle is deliberately and meticulously created: from the delicate balance tasted within each glass, to the small touches of family handwriting and messages on our labels. Their philosophy has always been to give our wines time to age in the bottle before release, a rarity in today’s market. Our philosophy has always been to give our wines time to develop in the bottle before release, a rarity in today’s market. Enjoying wines when they are ready to drink, rather than straight after bottling, when the wine has had time to develop and balance up in the bottle with no screaming parts. Our 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is a prime example of a Margaret River cabernet. With fine tannis and a hint of oak, the aging process has allowedblackcurrants and winter berries fruit to come forward with length.
Thompson Est C/Sauv
Medium crimson red with a slight purple edge. A generous combination of lifted forest berry fruits, cassis, and dark cherry fragrances upfront with underlying black olive and blackcurrant nuances. Subtle sweet cinnamon oak spice, violets and savoury dried herbs adds a further depth of complexity. Medium to full bodied wine with elegant, well integrated red berry fruit flavours fill the palate followed by a succulent, fleshy but firm tannin structure. Juicy red berry fruit flavours persist endlessly with a hint of dark chocolate mocha on the finish.
Cape Mentelle Heritage Margaret River Shiraz
Representing our finest selection of Shiraz from our estate vineyards expressing clearly varietal and vintage, this wine is the pinnacle for us of this noble grape in a cool elegant corner of Australia. Bearing the dark spice and forest floor characters which are hallmarks of Margaret River, wrapped in a fine textured umami envelope of goodness, this wine takes us on a wonderful journey, of which we are merely taking our first steps. Concentrated and vibrant on the palate with a rich diversity of black and red fruit intertwined with nutmeg, cinnamon and sweet spices. The mouthfeel is a lovely balance between powdery, chalky tannins and a playful acidity, finishing with great length and lingering notes of cedar and dried herbs.
Chateau Kirwan 3me cru classe
Chateau Labegorce Cru bourgeois
Labegorce is found just north of the town of Margaux, opposite Chateau Lascombes. It produces wines that are often favourably compared to its neighbouring classified Margaux Growths, but available for considerably less of an investment. Its instantly recognisable and iconic chateau was constructed in 1821, and the modern estate was purchased by Hubert Perrodo in 1989, now managed by his daughter Nathalie. The wine is typically made up of at least 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by slightly less Merlot and a small balance of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Soils here are primarily sandy gravel with small amounts of limestone.
Chateau La Lagune 3me cru classe
With a long and tumultuous history in the Haut-Médoc, stretching all the way back to its classification as one of fourteen 3me crus in the 1855 Classification, the Chateau has been rescued from obscurity, sold from family to family and endured superbly, as this latest offering amply exhibits. Unique, vibrant, and deep in colour, the 2016 can proudly hold its head up among the best La Lagune releases of recent years. Intensely aromatic, with a supple, medium-bodied palate, it will benefit from four or five years in the cellar and give ample rewards for your patience.
Chateau Cantemerle 5me cru classe
Château Cantemerle's is a fifth growth (5ème Cru Classé) Chateau located in the Haut-Medoc appellation of Bordeaux. The Chateau is situated in one of the most beautiful settings of the region, in woodlands on the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux. The wine undergoes 12-16 months maturation in 50% new French oak barriques. Chateau Cantemerles style is lively and fruit forward. The best vintages show complex aromas and flavours of black currants, plums and spice with superb freshness and plentiful fine-grained tannins.
