Up in the foothills of the Mount Lofty ranges, a Kangarilla vineyard offers Indian spice complexities that many higher priced wines would simply love to have. The added length and savoury tannins of this component and the use of some French oak result in a beguiling final release that is extraordinary.

dArenberg The Stump Jump Shiraz is a deep ruby red hued wine presenting a crimson haze. A whiff of the wine pleases your nose with dark and red fruit aromas including perfumes of blackberry, mulberry, raspberry and plum. These fragrances are replicated on the rich palate, where they intermix with flavours of liquorice, vanilla, baking spice, and subtle earthy notes. Supported by fine tannins, these magnificent characters offer a creamy and succulent mouthfeel. The finish is long and refreshing. This delightful Shiraz has been crafted for immediate consumption, but can also be cellared for 2 to 5 years from vintage. Mclaren Vale is known to produce shiraz grapes that are extremely small, giving them a high skin to pulp ratio. This goes on to provide an rich and complex wine with signature softness and a supple tannin finish, proving that you can infact be small, yet mighty.

At its core, we have all the plush dark berries, plums and chocolatey goodness that you’d expect from Mclaren Vale. But the blend of cabernets is what lifts this drop way above entry level, firm tannins and a liveliness on the back palate provide wonderful length and serious structure; perfect to pair with your good old fashioned Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings.

Like the bouquet, flavours of ripe dark fruit carry through and add a subtle sweetness to the mid-palate. Hints of white pepper and charming sweet spice add complexity and appeal.
