The grapes for this wine come from the Belford vineyard owned by the Elliott family, situated 15km north/north-west of the Tyrrells winery. The grapes were handpicked then lightly crushed before a relatively cool fermentation in stainless steel. After a short period on gross lees, the wine was racked and left to mature in stainless steel until bottling. The last of the semillon picked, this wine has a fuller palate commonly associated with the Belford vineyard, with great fruit intensity and a slightly higher acid intensity than normal years due to the cooler growing conditions.

'We are tasting the Tyrrell's 2006 Vat 1 semillon, a Hunter Valley wine which, at sevenyears old, is still a juvenile, easily capable of another decade of good drinking. The freshness of this wine demonstrates why Hunter semillon is possibly the most under-rated wine style in the world. The aromas centre around lemon, lime and fresh hay, and the palate is decidedly linear, based on a spine of acidity. Founded by James Halliday, Yarra Valley's Coldstream Hills winery has a reputation for producing quality wine. The Pinot Gris displays gentle white flower perfume, almonds and white fleshed fruit. The palate is subtle, but plenty enough flavour, glossy lightly powdery texture, some crunch of green pear on a long finish. Beautifully turned out.

The Brown Brothers Ginger and Lime Spritz is a fresh twist on the Ginger flavoured beverages that are so popular right now. The colour is a vibrant light gold. On the nose it is lifted with fresh ginger, finger lime and juicy green grapes. The wine is vibrant and moreish and best served cold or over ice.

The friends in this French Alsace style blend are 'aromatic varieties', probably riesling and gewurztraminer. The colour is pale, the bouquet is sweetly fragrant and floral. A dab of sweetness, full, rich and satisfying.

Grown on the Bunnamagoo vineyards in Mudgee and held in French oak for nine months and stirred often to aid the final texture. The result is a wine that shows notes of grass and lemon with a complex hint of dough. The flavours continue on the textured palate with fine acidity and good length.

The perfectly ripened grapes combine with crisp, citrus acidity, to give the wine a lovely balance. Fresh and floral with touches of honey, Colpasso Fiano is perfect chilled as an aperitif and wonderful with a plate of seafood.
