Tempranillo is an easy going red variety and well suited to the climate and deep red soils of Northern Heathcote. With soft fruit and fine tannins, Woodfired Tempranillo has modern grainy flavours, ample structure and savoury tannins. Fruit sourced from Jackson's Lane vineyard in South Heathcote as well as a portion from the original 1971 block vines. 25% whole bunch fermentation and 30% new oak maturation for 2 years prior to bottling in March 2017.Deep, dark red in colour. Sweet rich upfront fruit expected of Heathcote Shiraz. Powerful intense fruit, still quite tight with spicy acidity, and fine grained charry tannins. Concentrated fruit intensity with a soft but firm tannin finish, will continue to soften and gain complexity over a number of years.

Picked from selected premium vineyards for optimum quality, this wine is deep purple in colour with aromas of dark cherry & raspberry. Subtle hints of spice & white pepper lead to an intensely flavoured, well rounded yet relatively soft mouth feel of dark fruits, blackberries & oak influenced raspberries. Medium bodied with a balanced acidity and lingering length, this selection perfectly reflects of both the Heathcote region & the renowned quality of Red Hill Estate.

This wine is vibrant, perfumed Grenache with classic raspberry, musk and earthy notes. Serve lightly chilled. McLaren Vale is Australias foremost region for Grenache, where it was historically largely used for fortified wines and as a workhorse blending variety, frequently with Shiraz and Mourvedre/Mataro. Full-bodied examples rival Australias greatest Shiraz wines and this particular style, which highlights the varietys inherent deep red fruit characters, is fast gaining in popularity. Inspired by those delectable, food friendly blends from the south of France we have crafted a fresh and aromatic GSM that greets the drinker with savoury earthy aromas and succulent strawberries followed by hints of rosehip and fresh herbs. The true craft of the winemaker is the intricate art of blending. This wine is a prime expression of that artistic talent; the weaving together of various elements to enhance and complement each other resulting in a finished product far greater than the individual components. A cracker wine, fresh and juicy possessing crunchy tannins and savoury fresh mushroom character. The mid palate is full of floral red-currant fruit, with some choc-mint and fresh leather on the finish. This wine is unfiltered and matured for 10 months in older oak to preserve maximum primary fruit lift and intensity. An accessible wine of surprising length and complexity totally slurpable (yes it IS a word).

The Tar & Roses Tempranillo is a great example of what 20 year old Tempranillo vines are achieving in Australia. On the nose there are juicy rich mulberries, freshly dug earth with hints of blackcurrant and aniseed. The palate has impressive length, balance and structure.
