Wynns is in the fortunate position to have holdings of some of Coonawarra's oldest Shiraz vines and coupled with recent plantings in the 1990s, Wynns now have fruit that is worthy of its own place amongst the Wynns elite. Enter Wynns Black Label Shiraz - with a dense, dark nose of pepper, mulberries and distinctive florals that are the perfect gateway to a palate that is rich and complex. Flavours of layered red berry, spice and chocolate with tight, focused tannins that will see the Black Label Shiraz become another Wynns favourite.

V&A Lane Shiraz showcases a contrasting wine style from one of the most beloved grape varietals. A purposely early harvest to highlight a fresh red fruit spectrum, naturally lower alcohol, whole bunch inclusion, wild ferments, and the use of larger oak for maturation are just some of the techniques employed to make these beautiful food friendly wines. Bright cherry and blueberry complement more savoury elements of stalks, pastry, and spice. There is a light yet expansive quality to the palate. The pure fruits flow through to lingering crushed pepper and a biscuity finish.

Penola is one of the original producers in Coonawarra and they have a long and healthy track record with their Cabernet. This wine is elegant and well balanced with loads of dark fruits, a decent dollop of spicy oak and impressive length and character. It is medium bodied and finishes with nice some tannic grip. This is a Coonawarra Cabernet that will save on the purse strings and amaze the senses. Pairs up perfectly with a rich beef dish.

Wynns Michael Shiraz is a 'best-of-vintage' Shiraz from Wynns vineyard sites in Coonawarra and is named after David Wynn's youngest son. Made in the years that best show Coonawarra's unique terroir, this latest release displays the qualities that have made the 'Michael' one of the most highly regarded of all Australian Shiraz with aromas of red currants, cherries and raspberry that mesh every so well with the olive and white spice characters. The palate follows with an elegant structure bursting with dark brooding spice and succulent ripe tannins.

One of the benchmark wines to come out of the Coonawarra, the Penfolds Bin 128 is a delightful cool-climate shiraz. Matured in French Oak, with flavours of white pepper and floral spice, the 2014 Bin 128 is a rich and full-bodied Shiraz.

Sisters Run is an independently owned and operated winery with a fierce commitment to make the best wines from family vineyards. The label pays reference to talented young winemaker Elena Brooks who wears steel cap boots in the day but carries a pair of high heels in the back of the ute, just in case of emergencies. The Brand family story starts with the arrival of Eric Brand in Coonawarra in 1950. This is a Coonawarra Shiraz of great acclaim and considerable complexity. "The 'Remnants' is a reference to the ancient sea bed that formed the hardened limestone seen throughout Coonawarra. Blackberry, dark cherry pit and elderberry. Hawthorn and kampot peppers. Nyon olive, sea moss and granite. There is a volcanic rock or mineral element that speaks on ancient seabed and time passing its a wine for those that like to ponder. Decant and its linear frame and perky acidity. The Author pays homage to pioneering vigneron John Riddoch (1827-1901). A true visionary, Riddoch is regarded as one of the founding fathers of Australian wine. The Author represents the finest expression of the vintage. The 2019 Shiraz is dark magenta in colour with lifted spice, sweet oak and dark berry aromatics. The wine shows vibrant red berry fruits, with hints of plum and bramble. Aged in a combination of new and old French Oak, seamleessly intergrated with the fruit. Refined and silky tannins lead to a long and persistent length of flavour. This has all the hallmarks of a classic Coonawarra Shiraz and will drink well now but will reward patient cellaring for 10-15 years.
