Deep cherry red. Subtle and dark-fruited on the nose. Dry and firm on the palate, much less open than some in this vintage but all in balance with the dry and fine tannins and the freshness entwined with the lurking fruit.

The western end of the Aux Chezeaux plot is classified Premier Cru and borders Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin to the north. Viticulture is fully organic. 30-100% whole-bunch vinification is used depending on the vintage. Virgile Lignier has reduced the percentage of new oak used with most vintages, and they see around 30%.

The domaine has an impressive portfolio of vineyards with several Grands Crus and the revered Premier Cru of Les Suchots. The Confurons have always taken the greatest care in the vineyards, performing their own massale selection of vines (ie selecting and using the healthiest plants for propagation), which are on average 65 years old. Unusually for Burgundy, their vineyards have never been treated with herbicides or pesticides, and the vine roots penetrate deep into the soils, giving the grapes a minerality that defines our terroir.
