Labegorce is found just north of the town of Margaux, opposite Chateau Lascombes. It produces wines that are often favourably compared to its neighbouring classified Margaux Growths, but available for considerably less of an investment. Its instantly recognisable and iconic chateau was constructed in 1821, and the modern estate was purchased by Hubert Perrodo in 1989, now managed by his daughter Nathalie. The wine is typically made up of at least 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by slightly less Merlot and a small balance of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Soils here are primarily sandy gravel with small amounts of limestone.

The Heartland story began in the late 1990’s when Ben became excited about the outstanding quality of fruit being grown in some of South Australia’s lesser-known regions, in particular Langhorne Creek, where he explored thoroughly along with some winemaking friends. Today Heartland sources all of its fruit exclusively from Langhorne Creek and makes mainly red wines. Ben makes them 100km away at his state of the art Barossa Vintners winery in Tanunda.

Ironstone Pressings is named after the decomposed laterite granite known as ironstone found throughout the vineyards of McLaren Vale. This soil has a unique and rich red-brown colour from the iron oxide in the stone. Ironstone pressings is comprised of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre and each parcel is vinified separately. The wine is vinified in a traditional style, with foot treading employed on selected parcels during fermentation. The wine is basket pressed and transferred to new and used French and old American oak barriques to finish primary and secondary fermentation. Final assembly of the blend occurs after ten months maturation in oak. Ironstone Pressings is not fined or filtered prior to bottling. typically shows intense red berry fruit and spice aromas leading into a well-structured palate with great fruit concentration and savoury undertones.
