St Hallett Higher Earth Syrah St Halletts Higher Earth Syrah marks a new chapter for a brand known for its bold, unmistakably Barossan Shiraz. It seeks to represent with purity and grace the high altitude and cool climate of the Eden Valley, a showcase of this unique sub-region.The fruit for Higher Earth comes from parcels in four of St Hallets Eden Valley vineyards. Each parcel is treated individually according to its readiness and maturity. Unlike other St Hallett cuvées, Higher Earth is fermented at cool temperatures to instil vigour and freshness. It is aged in 25% new French oak. The result is a Syrah with lashings of dark fruit flavour and a lick of black pepper spice.

Bruno & George Eden Valley Montepulciano, Barossa Valley Montepulciano, or Monte as it is colloquially known among grape growers and winemakers in Australia, hails from the Apennines of Central Italy, particularly the mountainous regions of Abruzzo and the inland zones of neighbouring Marche. Capable of burly wines with a firm backbone of ferruginous tannins, bright acidity and a palette of darker fruit aspersions lifted by whiffs of dried tobacco and smoked meats, Montepulciano suits the torrid climate of much of Australia well, particularly the Barossa Valley. The Rabl estate was founded in 1750 and today covers around 50 hectares of vineyards in Austrias famous Kamptal wine region. Kamptal gets its name from the river Kamp and is home to Austrias largest wine-producing town, Langenlois. This south-southeast orientated vineyard is planted with Riesling in the upper part comprised of gneiss and slate soils. The lower parts possess deeper soils and are used for Grüner Veltliner. This is a warm site that lends wines a unique smoky mineral character.

Felton Road is the premier Central Otago producer with a strong reputation for terroir driven wines that have been allowed to find their own style rather than be 'crafted'. This Riesling shows n intense nose of stonefruit and citrus which leads into a rich and full palate with a strong mineral backbone. The finish is bright, with crunchy green apple acidity.

Kaesler have had their Semillon vines in the ground since 1960, and in that time have made some truly wonderful wines. The now Old Vines produce wine of intensity, focus, character and sheer drinkability. Cut grass and citrus, green apple and lemon curd, it is drinking beautifully now and will improve over the short term.

Lark Hill sits high a top the Canberra District wine region, some 840m above sea level. This altitude allows their fragrant aromatic whites to truly sing. The Riesling is brilliantly restrained which can be tasted in the overt mineral nature of the wine. Lively citrus blossom with white flowers can also be seen.

This Riesling by Lethbridge is Germanic in style, with fruit sourced from vines planted in 1982 at Barretts Vineyards near Drumborg. It is made using traditional German wine-making techniques, the hand-picked grapes were whole bunch pressed into tank for fermentation by wild yeast on partial solids. Fresh grapefruit acidity, underlying grapefruit, a dash of sherbet, some early bottle maturation honey and just a hint of ripe mango/peach fruit, all topped off with some yeast funk.
