Yangarra Estate is a biodynamic wine farm in the McLaren Vale devoted solely to producing wines from the best grape varieties of the southern Rhone. Seppelt Chalambar is sourced from fruit from a number of premier Victorian wine regions allowing the expert winemaking team to source the very best fruit year in, year out. In recent years the Chalambar has achieved wide acclaim for not only its approachability upon release, but its inherent ability to age superbly for such an affordable wine. Notes of black fruits, pepper and a delicate angle of spice that grows even more complexity through the length of flavour. With a tannin structure and oak regime that can only be described as exemplary, Chalambar deserves to be in your cellar and on your table.

Brouilly is the largest and furthest south of the Beaujolais crus. It has a good south eastern exposure, at the bottom of the Saône Valley at an altitude of 200 to 300 metres. The subsoil consists of granite debris and blue-tinged schist. This also ranked the full 5 stars in my abbreviated-for-iPad rating system! Spinifex Esprit is a Grenache Mataro blend that has a vibrant, youthful and fresh palate driven by a tangy herb infused line of red fruit red currant, sour red plum, pomegranate and marjoram that gains warmth and depth turning to tobacco, game, cedar and darker fruit to close. Pulpy, fleshy fruit is drawn long with plum skin acids and stony tannins.

Elderton is one of Australia's great Shiraz producers, year in and year out. Brimming with ripe juicy blood-plum and chocolate flavours, this is almost like Black Forest cake in a bottle!

The Craiglee vineyard was established in the 1860's, and replanted in 1976 by the current winemaker, Patrick Carmody. All wines are made from estate grown fruit using natural processes that reflect the flavours specific to the site. Gamay is not widely grown in Australia but if there is a "benchmark" for the grape here it must be Sorrenberg. True to variety it is a lighter bodied style . Showing a lovely bouquet of aromatic fruit of red currants with a hint of cherry, this follows on the palate to include complex elegant acid and refined tannins.

Enter Wynns Black Label Shiraz - with a dense, dark nose of pepper, mulberries and distinctive florals that are the perfect gateway to a palate that is rich and complex. Flavours of layered red berry, spice and chocolate with tight, focused tannins that will see the Black Label Shiraz become another Wynns favourite.
