There's a lot to adore about this Cabernet Sauvignon from a beloved family-owned winery. Halliday deemed it worthy of 92 points, and it's picked up four gold medals from Australian wine shows. But if that pedigree doesn't impress you, one sip of this beautiful red will.

The Hill Block straddles the ridge running through the Chapel Hill estate. The wine was then aged for 19 months in 100% tight grained French oak. The proportion of new oak was kept low to encourage the continued expression of the characters that are unique to the vineyard site.

Ironstone Pressings is named after the decomposed laterite granite known as ironstone found throughout the vineyards of McLaren Vale. This soil has a unique and rich red-brown colour from the iron oxide in the stone. Ironstone pressings is comprised of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre and each parcel is vinified separately. The wine is vinified in a traditional style, with foot treading employed on selected parcels during fermentation. The wine is basket pressed and transferred to new and used French and old American oak barriques to finish primary and secondary fermentation. Final assembly of the blend occurs after ten months maturation in oak. Ironstone Pressings is not fined or filtered prior to bottling. typically shows intense red berry fruit and spice aromas leading into a well-structured palate with great fruit concentration and savoury undertones.

We were blessed with a spectacular vintage in 2013 - the reds will be talked about for along time! Low cropping with great intensity. The old vine shiraz fruit from the 1948 planted vines always delivers, and 2013 is no exception. We are very happy with the resultant wines from this old block of Shiraz in 2013, and we hope you will be too.

This purple-red hued wine exudes aromas of mulberry, raspberry and earthy nuances from its pleasing nose. The intense and richly flavoured palate shows plum, chocolate and vanilla flavours. Integrated with fleshy tannins and soft oak, the wine ends long and refreshing. This wine has been crafted for medium to long-term cellaring.

Beguilingly light in colour it has an intensely lifted aromaticity. Primary fruits of raspberry, confectionary, yet then a tantalizing and balancing off-sweet aroma that is more meaty and savoury than sweet. Berry fruit flavours are subtly seasoned with oak's spice, before the mid palate is refreshed with cooling acidity. The acidity carries the wine's flavours through to the palate's end. Heirloom Vineyards was conceived in vintage 2000, when a young winemaking student caught the eye of a silly old wine judge. A love story ensued inspired by two vows: To preserve the best of tradition, the old world of wine and our unique old vineyards and to champion the best clones of each variety planted in the most appropriate sites embracing the principals of organic and biodynamic farming. Seven long vintages of trial and error passed before Heirloom Vineyards could make a wine that was fine enough to pass on to future generations. That is this wine.
