A recent addition to the Petaluma stable, the Petaluma of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is a great example of modern Australian winemaking when let to mingle with traditional wine estate and aged vineyards. Notes of dark chocolate, mocha, espresso and forest floor sit alongside bold blackcurrant fruit and cedar nuances. The finish is long and sustained.

A rich, classically styled, medium to full-bodied Shiraz with ample richness, a softly textured supple mouthfeel, and lifted flavours of ripe dark plum, liquorice, dark chocolate and toasty vanillin oak gliding across the palate.

Includes 30% whole bunch fruit with maturation taking place in an even mix of stainless steel and old French oak hogsheads for a period of 6 months. Black as night heart with a youthfully bright dark red hue. Fragrant freshly crushed blackberry, liquorice and dark plum scents cross paths with some spicy vanillin cedar and peppered fennel notes. Rich juicy dark plum, liquorice and blueberry fruits overlay spicy vanilla and subtle peppered earth characters. Fresh acidity and polished tannins concluding lively and succulently fruited. Drink over the next 3-4 years. Alc. 14%

'Black Label' Cabernet Sauvignon, which was first vintaged in 1954, has evolved markedly over the decades. It is arguably Australia's most recognised Cabernet Sauvignon, and has more than any other, helped define Coonawarra. The wine is matured in new and seasoned French oak for 12 to 18 months. A classic Coonawarra Cabernet with pristine dark berry/ cassis aromas, fine grained tannins and underlying savoury nuances, it develops into a rich, chocolaty wine with age. In a super vintage, this wine can look astonishingly like a 2nd or 3rd growth Bordeaux with its pure cassis aromas and cedary complexity. HEAD Old Vine Shiraz, Barossa Valley The hand-picked fruit comes in small parcels from up to 100-years-old vines. Theres a little whole-bunch fermentation prior to 12 months in a mix of old and new barrels. There is a measure of Old Vine Grenache to lighten up the classic Barrosa Valley Shiraz richness.

In the glass: Deep garnet. On the nose: Cassis, cedar, tobacco, spice.On the palate: Distinctly varietal with blackcurrant, blackberry and cassis, black tea and smokey oak. Finely structured with fine, velvety tannins and good persistence.
