Planted in the late 19th century, the High Trellis vineyard was the first d'Arenberg vineyard to be trained above knee height. For the past four decades, a Cabernet Sauvignon has been produced from the vineyard to critical acclaim, even winning the Jimmy Watson trophy in 1969. Oakridge Over the Shoulder Cabernet Merlot is bold fruit driven and mouth filling, this wine combines old world style with contemporary wine making techniques.

The Black Shiraz is an extreme example of this style, deep colour, huge palate and high alcohol. The Black Shiraz upholds the tradition with strong blackberry and plum aromas over toast, vanillan and spice. The palate is full flavoured and intense with rich blackberry, plum, blueberry and spicy characters. The tannins are very ripe and dense giving great structure and length to the palate.

This Sauvignon Blanc exhibits a pale straw colour in a glass with a lively green hue. The fruity bouquet exudes sharp aromas of gooseberry and kiwi fruit. This light-bodied wine contains flavours of crisp apple and tropical fruit. It tastes best chilled and is a refreshing summer drink.

Forester Estate is owned by Vignerons Kevin and Jenny McKay. It’s situated in Yallingup, in the northern Margaret River region. Kevin’s motto is to build complexity and texture into his wines literally from the ground up! The superb wines are made by Todd Payne who has had “a distinguished career, starting in the Great Southern, then the Napa, Plantagenet, Esk Valley in Hawke’s Bay, and on to the Northern Rhône” (Halliday). This is a beautifully expressive wine. Inky, rich and herbal Cabernet melds with plummy, velvety, mouthfilling Merlot to create a really layered and complex wine you want to keep on sipping.

Winemaking:The grapes for this wine were picked at night to keep the temperature cool and enhance fruit quality and freshness.The wine was fermented in tank over a 14 day period with temperature control to retain fruit intensity. Tasting Notes:This wine is full of character highlighted with aromas of peach, melon, and citrus. The fruit flavours are balanced with a natural intensity and very smooth finish.
