A Speyside single malt Scotch whisky as intriguing and extraordinary as Benriach could not have come to be without a unique whisky making heritage, dating from 1898, when founder John Duff built his distillery. Ruggedly beautiful, Benriach stands on the site of the old Riach farm in north Speyside, drawing water from a mineral-rich aquifer, deep beneath the distillery. Thanks to a long standing tradition of distilling three styles of whisky; classic unpeated, Highland peated and triple distilled, together with an eclectic selection of casks from around the world, our whisky makers are able to explore the full flavour possibilities of single malt, creating some of the richest, most multi-layered whiskies in Speyside. This tradition continues today, under the guidance of Master Blender, Rachel Barrie. Benriach is the story of a hidden Speyside gem; quietly revealing its treasures to be discovered and savoured. To craft Benriach The Sixteen, Benriach spirit is three cask matured for at least sixteen years in bourbon barrels, sherry and virgin oak casks. The whisky from each cask is then expertly married together to create a richly balanced malt, layered with stone fruit, creamy hazelnut and overtones of fragrant spice, with finishing notes of wild honey and candied peel.

Drawing upon decades of experience, our Master Blender Rachel Barrie has skilfully combined some of our rarest malt to create Benriach The Forty. Fine bourbon casks made from American oak have gradually developed exquisite notes of honeyed pomelo and ripe stone fruits. This intricate character is interwoven with dark notes of chocolate, rich plum, and smooth walnut from port casks sourced from the Douro Valley in Portugal. The result is the ultimate expression of our signature, luscious, fruit-laden style.

Personally selected by Master Blender Rachel Barrie from the Benriach eclectic and extensive cask collection, each Cask Edition is drawn from a single cask, chosen for exceptional taste and character. While our core range works to bring out different layers of flavour with a range of different cask types, the Cask Edition programme celebrates the flavours of individual and unique cask types we have at the distillery. A richly sumptuous single malt, interwoven with mellow smoke and a masterful curation of oak. Crafted from a combination of unpeated and peated spirit and four cask matured for at least twenty five years in sherry casks, bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks and Madeira Island wine casks. During long maturation Benriach’s sweet Speyside smoke mellows and integrates with the fruit, malt and oak. After twenty-five years, rich layering develops into caramelised smoke, further enhanced through multi-layered cask maturation. The whisky from each cask type, imbued with particular flavour characteristics, is then expertly married together to create a sumptuous single malt, layered with baked fruit, honey malt and toasted oak spice with a long, rich, caramelised smoke finish. All in perfect balance.

This exquisite single malt has been crafted from peated spirit and four cask matured for at least thirty years in sherry casks, bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks and port casks from the Douro Valley. During long maturation Benriach’s sweet Speyside smoke mellows and integrates with the fruit, malt and oak. After thirty years, rich layering develops into sublime honeyed smoke, further enhanced through multi-layered cask maturation. The whisky from each cask type, imbued with particular flavour characteristics, is then expertly married together to create an exquisitely harmonious single malt, layered with dark fruits, rich walnut and velvety oak spice with a long, complex, smoked honey finish. All in perfect balance.

The BenRiach's fruit-laden style is perfectly captured in this 10 year old expression. At the distillery they are known for doing this a little differently. Their philosophy is to embrace the creative possibilites of distilling and maturation, all in the pursuit of flavour. This 10 year old single malt has been matured in three casks, bourbon, Oloroso sherry and virgin oak. The whisky is then expertly combined by their Master Blender, creating a smooth Speyside drop, full of fruit, toasted oak spice, and luscious sweetness. In 1898, John Duff built the Speyside Distillery, BenRiach. It is one of the few distilleries with its own on-site floor malting and draws its water from the Burnside Springs. Once distilled, the Benriach 35 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is filled into casks and allowed to mature on-site in the distilleries traditional, stone-walled, earthen-floored dunnage warehouse. This provides the perfect conditions for the whisky to age. The resulting whisky has aromas of luscious tropical fruit salad syrup with back notes of chocolate and mints. A classic Speyside palate blending waves of dried apricots and papaya with hints of golden syrup and distant milk chocolate. A long and elegant finish.

The whisky from each cask type, imbued with particular flavour characteristics, is then expertly married together to create a rich and elegant single malt, layered with lush orchard fruit and toasted pine wood with a honey smoke finish. All in perfect balance. This whisky has a honey gold colour. Aromas of berry fruit, orchard apple, wild honey and mountain oak spice. Candied grape, rich cocoa, smoked pine nut, across the palate finishing with caramelised pear and honey smoke.
