Chaffey Bros Wine Co

Chaffey Bros Kontrapunkt Kerner

Kerner... this evocative, textural treat is the brain child of August Herold. First planted in 1929 as a cross-breed of Riesling and Trollinger... fast forward 76 years to when Barossa bros Graeme & Michael Fechner had that elusive lightbulb moment - to plant Kerner cuttings in their northern Eden Valley vineyard whilst on a research trip in Germany. Their pioneering efforts, sparked our intrigue... we first dabbled with Kerner incorporating it into our aromatic field blend DÜFTE PUNKT, co-fermenting it with Riesling and Gewürztraminer from the same vineyard. After years of experimenting, we decided it was time to truly hero this germanic wunderkind, and push Kerner into the limelight with the release of the first KONTRAPUNKT in 2016... now Australia’s (and the Southern Hemisphere's) only Kerner. “Every now and then you encounter a wine that blows your mind. Kerner is one of them. Haven't heard of it? You're not alone." - Katie Spain, SMH & The Age So what's all the excitement about? It's like Riesling on steroids. Fuller in body and more luscious in texture. It's wonderfully aromatic, with a deliciously creamy palate & some bright acidity that keeps it fresh, lively and oh-so drinkable. This wine is for the foodie, the sommelier who has seen it all, and those who just want to drink different... it's white wine for the red wine drinker.

Chaffey Bros Synonymous Shiraz

Deep crimson/purple in colour with a nose of cedar, spice and plum hinting at the mix of dark fruits and chocolate lurking on the rich structured palate. The wine shows powerful depth of flavour with plush lingering mouthfeel. A careful selection of established low yielding vineyards stretching from the North Barossa townships of Ebenezer and Light Pass through to Lyndoch in Southern Barossa. Matured in new and seasoned French and American oak allowing the vibrant mid-palate of dark and light fruit to come to the fore. Brothers-in-law Daniel Chaffey Hartwig and Theo Engela are the latest generation of the Chaffey family to ply their vinous trade in Australia.Their hand-made, minimal intervention wines come from small parcels of low yielding vineyards spread throughout the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Drawing on true old vines and complex soils they see themselves as part parfumer - discovering delicate aromatics; part historian - preserving the purity of pristine fruit and part mad scientist - reveling in the art of small batch blending.

Chaffey Bros Wine Co NOT YOUR GRANDMA'S ROSÉ Barossa Valley

Not Your Grandmas Rosé is made as a true rosé (picked earlier than typical red wine). 62% of the blend is old vine Grenache from the Lyndoch foothills and from Stockwell, which is co-fermented with 30% of old vine Mourvèdre also from the Lyndoch region. The remaining 8% is an aromatic blend of Riesling, Gewürtztraminer, and Weißer Herold (Kerner) from the Northern Eden Valley, which emphasises the strawberry, musk and turkish delight aromas. Not just for summer! Enjoy with all foods, from Spencer Gulf prawns to charcuterie. Early picking allows for a textural mouthfeel, luminous rose-diamond colour and crisp natural acidity giving great length. Grenache contributes the red berry and strawberry palate with Mourvèdre adding structure and lingering spice.
