Hommage a Jacques Perrin

Chateau de Beaucastel Cuvee Hommage Jacques Perrin Chateauneuf du Pape

Chateau de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin is a monumental wine, made only in top vintages. The wine was first produced in 1989 as a tribute to Jacques Perrin, who died in 1978. Atypical for Chateauneuf-du Pape, the Hommage is a Mourvèdre dominant blend sourced from low-yielding old vines. Deeply concentrated and powerful, it possesses immense capacity to age.

Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin

I was shocked at the quality of the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage A Jacques Perrin and I can’t think of another wine that comes close to this level of depth, concentration and richness in the vintage. Its inky color is followed by sensational notes of roasted herbs, licorice, caramelized meats and layers of black and blue fruits. Rich, full-bodied, thick and unctuous, hats off to the Perrin family for this incredible effort! Give bottles 4-6 years of cellaring and drink over the following two decades. Chateau de Beaucastel Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet Rouge

A beautiful dark colour, the nose shows pretty notes of red fruit, raspberries, wild strawberries, spices and garrigue. The palate is powerful, full, with great finesse. The tannins are velvety and the finish has great length. The result of all the efforts and innovations of three generations of the Perrin family is evident when one has the pleasure of tasting a good vintage of Chateau de Beaucastel at its peak. If one word could describe the red wines of Beaucastel it would be 'pure', because these wines are the natural expression of the place and the grapes from which they come.

Chateau de Beaucastel

Chateau de Beaucastel is one of the largest and most noted producers of wine in the Châteauneuf du Pape region. The Châteauneuf du Pape is a Mourvèdre dominant blend containing all 13 permitted varieties. Each variety is hand-harvested and vinified separately before assembly and maturation in large old oak foudres for 12 months. A traditional sturdy style with savoury spicy complexity typically showing dark berry fruit and notes of cured meat and dried herbs underpinned by grainy rustic tannins, Chateau de Beaucastel is one of the benchmark wines of the region.
