Soil and aspect is therefore every much key, imparting style and character and this new release Head Red is no exception. Judiciously used oak allows the deliciously juicy, dark and spicy fruit to shine with an impeccably moorish, savoury structure. 'Made from grenache, shiraz and mataro, this is bursting with bright, spicy red cherry fruits showing gentle savoury complexity. Fleshy with silky tannins and floral, spicy complexity, it is made for immediate enjoyment.' - The Australian, 02 May 2014

Head The Redhead Shiraz

This gorgeous Shiraz was produced using grapes from Eden Valley. It was aged for 3 year in thick demi-muids which gave it a rich, dense red hue. On the nose, mushroom, black olive, truffle, bath soap, lavender and rosemary sage aromas are complemented by spices, liquorice and ham hock. The palate is laden with black and blue fruit flavours along with notes of plum fruit, cherry pie and liquorice. It further reveals fine tannins paving the way for a long finale. This varietal wine is a great match for pork or duck with strongly-flavoured sauces.

Head Wines The Brunette Shiraz

Deep red in colour, The Brunette opens up with aromas of aniseed and spicy oak. Expect a palate full of red berries backed up by aniseed and liquorice. 'From a single vineyard in the Moppa district, a striking shiraz with deep, bright purple-red colour and youthful, undeveloped cherry aromas. The palate is full-bodied and fleshy, soft and superbly textured, with ample, persistent tannins and terrific length. Elegant yet powerful. It will reward cellaring. Huon Hooke | Good Food.

Head Wines The Blonde Shiraz

Pure joy in a bottle. The grey sands (blonde in colour) that run through this incredibly naturally low yielding vineyard contribute remarkable density and elegance. Highly perfumed, jube-like blue fruits leap from the glass and the super fine tannins and acidity will leave you craving another glass!

Head Wines The Contrarian Shiraz

In the glass: Dense red black. On the nose: Lifted plum pudding, currant and cedary oak. On the palate: Very rich and powerful with a velvety soft core of fruit, graphite-like tannins, touches of black olive and sarsaparilla and earthy persistence.
