Mt Bera Vineyards Adelaide Hills DREAMCATCHER White Field Blend
This block was appended to Mt Bera in 2016. It began life as the Pilot Block for Caj and Genny Amadio’s Gumeracha Estates, which evolved into the Chain of Ponds Wines business. 9 different varieties of grapes were planted as one of the first trial vineyards in the Adelaide Hills in 1985 to test which varieties were most suited to the area. Due to the exceptional quality of the grapes produced, the surrounding Gumeracha Vineyards were then planted next to it with a range of varieties on larger areas, and the 9 varieties were reduced to two within the Pilot Block – Sauvignon Blan and Pinot Gris – which remain today. This wine is a tribute to the dreams of Caj and Genny Amadio and the pioneering spirit needed to establish a new wine area around Gumeracha. Very light colour with a bouquet of almond-meal, a note of smoky, leesy funk, and the palate is medium bodied, intense and properly dry, with a touch of phenolic grip enhancing its dryness and length.Huon Hooke.
Mt Bera Vineyards Adelaide Hills WILD & FREE Pinot Noir
Wild & Free - Natural fermention, nothing added to ferments - natural yeasts only, slow natural ferments create pure expressions of flavour from our Vineyards in the elevated mountains along the Torrens Gorge, Mt Bera. Adelaide Hills pinot noir bursting with bright red fruits of raspberry and strawberry with a trace of truffle-like character nuanced into the nose. The medium-bodied palate is balanced and integrated with a fine thread of tannin and fine-grained oak in support. Has a firm feel through the middle but the warm flesh of pinot snuggles up closely.
Mt Bera Vineyards RUNNING WITH THE COWS Tempranillo
A cheeky, fun name for a mighty tasty tempranillo that doesn't take itself too seriously. Lays the foundations with deep-purple hues and a bouquet of sunny blackberries, cherry, red licorice and vanilla with a kick of spice. It fairly bounces in the mouth, but there is a serious side, too, with a solid concentration of fruit and structure built around well-crafted tannins. More than enough in reserve for some medium-term ageing. Jeni Port, Wine Companion
Mt Bera Vineyards Adelaide Hills AMPHITHEATRE Pinot Noir Zweigelt
Mt Bera’s Amphitheatre vineyard is planted on 2 slopes of a massive natural amphitheatre between our other vineyards. One bird can create music to be heard everywhere. Hopefully the grapes collect the music, and you find yourself singing along with our native bird population Both Pinot Noir (Clones 114, 115) are planted on its slopes along with Zweigelt for this single vineyard blend.
