The Barossa region in South Australia is believed to have the oldest vines in the world. Crafted by the next generation of Peter Lehmann winemakers, The Barossan showcases the superb fruit sourced from the many fabled sub-regions across the Barossa. Hints of lifted cherry and plum intertwine with delightful vanilla and cedar notes to deliver a balanced and complex medium bodied wine with a delightful lingering finish. Drinking beautifully now with further cellaring potential.

Every region has their own hero varieties, and the Adelaide Hills is justifiably renowned for its intensely flavoured and distinctive Sauvignon Blanc.Pale and bright with a green fleck. Subtle citrus, tropical fruit, flint and white florals. Generous tropical fruit entry with hints of guava and grapefruit with fine acidity and talc-like texture. Juicy yet pure and crunchy.

The grapes were picked in the cool of the early morning and transported directly to the winery for crushing. After draining off skins, the wine was fermented at a cool temperature with neutral yeast over a two week period. After fermentation, the wine remained on yeast lees with regular bâtonnage for a number of months to enhance weight and mouthfeel. The selected parcel was fined and filtered prior to bottling in September. Brilliant pale straw with a very slight tinge of varietal bronze. Aromas of nashi pear, crunchy apples, nectarine and honeysuckle. Bright fresh and fleshy fruit flavours of peach and nectarine, soft textural mid palate with a touch of viscosity followed by a crisp, freshening citrus acidity finish perfectly balanced with a touch of residual sweetness. Enjoy with Spencer Gulf kingfish, celtuce, green daikon & smoked dashi, or charcoal roasted squid and pork belly with smoky chilli and roasted red onion.

This Pinot Grigio from the Adelaide Hills has delightful fresh aromatics of pears and white peach opening up to a textural palate displaying bright, juicy notes of lemon zest and melon. Our founder, Peter Lehmann, created Portrait wines to ‘paint a picture’ of our home in the iconic Barossa. Today, Portrait is a series of wines crafted to express the wonderful and diverse landscapes of South Australia’s wine regions. The wines express the unique characteristics of their origin and are made to be vibrant and approachable.

The Portrait wines embody the original promise Peter Lehmann made to the growers to make wines that show the true character of the Barossa. Collectively, these wines present a portrait of the region with a selection of the traditional varietals that made it famous. A vivacious wine, with balance and structure, made from dry grown low-yielding bush Grenache and a touch of Shiraz. The colour is a delicate salmon pink with an aroma of early picked raspberries and strawberries. It is a refreshing, dry Rosé style ideal for casual sipping or as an accompaniment to lighter food dishes - served lightly chilled and drink it while it is young and fresh.
