Snake + Herring

Snake + Herring "Extreme Ways" Tempranillo

The 2018 Extreme Ways Tempranillo has red fruits: cherries, raspberry, mulberry and earthy fresh leather complexity. There is also underlying cardamom and some white flowers. Rich and generous on the palate the 2018 Extreme Ways is a product of perfect ripening in a great Frankland vintage. The succulence is balance by fine graphitic tannins with a gentle drying dustiness on the long finish.

Snake + Herring Teardrop Riesling

A shimmeringly pure citrus and sandstone mineral nose. Powerful white floral (jasmine, honeysuckle) and lime/lemon punch fill the front and midpalate before focusing in the end on a long crunchy finish which will develop into marmalade characters on aging. Hand picked and whole cluster pressed free run juice only The Snake + Herring brand is a wine safari searching for remarkable grapes from West Australian Vineyards. The Search has begun, and our grape balloon manned by Snake (our winemaker) and Herring (our navigator) represent this. The southwest of WA is a viticultural treasure map as there are vineyard jewels scattered throughout. We seek for blocks within vineyards that really shine; they may seem dull when diluted by the bordering lesser dirt. The search is to find and polish these often overlooked gems and present a treasure chest of different jewels: pristine, crystalline Rieslings; crisp, radiant, multi-faceted Chardonnays; alluring, perfumed Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon; dark, exotic, hedonistic Shiraz; brilliant, regal displays of Cabernets and blends.

Snake + Herring "Business Time" Syrah

The 2013 Business Time Shiraz is Mount Barker: powerful 5 spice, earth and bacon fat aromatics, succulent red fruit dominates with supporting layered tannins and a long focused finish with dark chocolate and graphite textures.

Snake + Herring Cannonball Cabernet Blend

Powerful black fruited aromas of fresh blackberry, roasted tomato and blackcurrant with layers of dried sage, damp earth and graphite. The oak adds a creamy and almond meal texture to the powerful blackberry, dark cherry and fruit on the palate. The succulence typical of the Morgans site is extended and balanced by layers of fine tannin, building into a persistent pencilly/graphite textured finish. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot Handpicked and de-stemmed to small open-top fermenters, we let the ferments go wild. Hand-plunging often and vigourously we press ferments off skins when the tannins are melting in your mouth, about 5 weeks after ferment starts.
