Whilst the folks at Hunter Laing are specialists in blended and single malt scotch whiskies, over the years they have been fortunate enough to acquire stocks of aged rums, from places such as Guyana and Jamaica and are pleased now to offer some of these to customers on the basis, of course, that they meet the same exacting quality standards required for their bottlings of whisky. In the 17th and 18th centuries, islanders referred to their locally made distillates as Kill Devil. Whilst today many of the old superstitions have gone, the Caribbean is still the source of many exotic rums. The Kill Devil series showcases the quality and diversity of rum from the Caribbean and further afield – single casks are specially selected for shipment to Scotland, to be carefully and traditionally bottled by hand. The single cask bottlings are presented in gift tubes and the rums are bottled at 46% or at natural cask strength – also referred to as navy strength in the rum world – not chill-filtered and without colouring.

Angostura Orange Bitters is freshly made from oranges naturally ripened in sun-drenched Caribbean sunshine. Sourced from lush orchards in Trinidad, the oranges are hand-picked by select citrus growers and harvested only within the rainy season to ensure ultimate freshness. With an unmatched depth of flavour, Angostura Orange Bitters is an exotic and versatile bitters that works incredibly well with vodka, gin and whisky, and adds real depth of flavour to rum cocktails.

The youngest of the Esclavo family products. The Spanish styled Solera rum is both pleasant and easy to drink based around its sweet and simple taste. The finish is powerful and the flavour lasts on the palate a while.

Havana Club Anejo Especial from Cuba is a blend of rums that have spent between four and seven years in oak barrels and is the perfect rum to enhance the existing subtle spice flavours with whole all natural spices.

Made with rum aged and unaged, with a hint of smokiness from charred American oak, Bacardí Spiced is blended with natural flavours and spices for a bold, yet smooth taste. This spiced rum drink has both light and deep notes, making it perfect for mixing.

Ron Obispo is aged in small bourbon barrels of 200 litres where the maturation process takes place, adding the wood flavors to the existing licorice, honey, candied fruits and prune hints. The clove, nutmeg and vanilla spicy notes represent a trip back to the true roots of the genuine Cuban rums.

Santisima Trinidad 15 Year Old Rum is the result of three stages of ageing. Firstly, liquors are aged for at least 4 years before being blended into the base rums. Base rums are distilled from cane sugar and ages for 3, 7 or 25 years. This new 15-year-old rum is further barrel aged, rounding out the profile.Dark amber in appearance with aged, Santisima 15 Year Old has woody notes, toasty nuances and dried fruit aromas. The flavour is long, combining sweetness and a slight bitterness well integrated with almond and walnut flavours.
