Caol Ila 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
A gentler, more feminine and food friendly expression that Islay lovers should get to know. Despite being the largest distillery on Islay (in terms of production anyway), nearly all of Caol Ila's output ends up in blends, so much so that until 2002 when the 12-year-old was released, independent bottlings were the only recourse for malt hunters. The distillery's gently fruity-smoky style sets it apart and comes down to the production process: "...although it receives the same spec of malt as sister distillery Lagavulin, Caol Ila’s distillation regime – longer fermentation, higher cut point, taller stills, helps to reduce the heavy phenols." Tasting note: Pale straw colour with a subtle green blush. Aromas of soft, sweet peat - smoked trout, a hint of lanolin and some baked citrus. Rounded, pure and impeccably clean from start to finish, the palate offers semi-sweet smoky-fruity-oily flavours counterpointed by super fine tannins. Perfect balance. Finishes long with salt, smoked fish and light lanolin through the fade. A gentler, more feminine and food friendly expression that Islay lovers should get to know. 43%Alc./Vol.
Glengyle Distillery Kilkerran Heavily Peated Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky ( ) - Batch 11
Even though this is a NAS release, you can expect Glengyle's whisky-making team are refining their blending skills and introducing older material into each batch. So it makes sense that some tasters are describing this as one of the best, if not the best batch in the series to date. Drawn from 90% Bourbon casks with the remainder out of Sherry, complexity will be a strong point. The Kilkerran style we've come to know and love includes notes of key lime pie, toasted rye bread and peat smoke, toasted marshmallows and campfire embers with hints of vanilla and custard - and of course, that Campbeltown smokiness carrying through to the finish, along with a mineral note to round things off. Even after dilution, these natural strength expressions can remain beautifully fresh. If you're partial to the uber-peaty, invigorating coastal blast that comes with Longrow at its finest, this will be for you. In line with previous releases, Batch 11 weighs in at 57.9% Alc./Vol and comes bottled non-chill filtered.
Ichiro's Malt & Grain World Blended Whisky
Ichiro Akuto's most voluminous and accessible Whisky is, as it says on the label, a blend of Malt and Grain Whiskies. While the exact source of the material is not published, it's known it's a blend of Japanese distilled material vatted with Whiskies sourced from around the world. In addition to whisky from his own stocks--including, potentially, Hanyu and Karuizawa, as well as his own Chichibu--the blend contains spirits from Canada, the United States, Ireland and Scotland. The imported Whiskeys are 3-5-years-old, aged in their country of origin before being carefully blended with local Japanese material and matured a further 1-3 years at Chichibu. The Whisky is vatted in 2 x 5,000-litre wooden barrels built by French cooper Taransaud. Non-chill filtered, non-coloured, Chichibu Ichiro's Malt & Grain World Blended Whisky is a pure example of Akuto's whisky making expertise.
Glenmorangie The Lasanta 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky ( )

Lasanta is Gaelic for warmth and passion, a reflection of the sweet and spicy flavours of raisin, honeycomb, spiced orange, and chocolate-covered hazelnuts.
Ardbeg Uigeadail Single Malt Scotch Whisky
“The elemental opposite of the sophisticated Lord of the Isles.” Perched on a wave washed, rocky headland, the Ardbeg distillery was founded in 1815 by the MacDougalls of Ardbeg. The distilleries scattered white washed buildings are reminiscent of a Dutch settlement and add to the dramatic coastal landscape. Ardbeg has had a chequered history and in recent times had been closed down for many years. Glenmorangie acquired Ardbeg in 1997 and has set about restoring the distillery to its former glory. First launched in 2003, “Uigeadail” (the loch from which all Ardbeg water flows) this cask strength, heavily peated Ardbeg is produced from a mix of bourbon casks and older sherry casks. The combination gives this whisky a velvety texture, with a sweet and smokey finish. Tasting notes: Bright gold appearance. Big, sweet sherry influenced nose offers dried apricot and marmalade scents over menthol and sweet cedar smoke. Some ripe green apple notes emerge with time in the glass. The palate is off dry with a rich, dark chocolate entry becoming heavier and fudge-like with orange chocolate, sweet cereal and the peat continually reinventing itself - at once dry and sooty, then tarry and finally kippery on the finish. Excellent balance at cask strength. Boiled lolly and spice aftertaste with a subtle spearmint fade. Latest batch tasted October 2010.

Inspired by nature and patiently aged, Sullivans Cove distillers seek the sublime. Each cask is nurtured to its natural peak, with thousands of tiny decisions helping each batch reach its full potential. Tasmania’s pure, clean water and fertile barley-growing land make it an ideal location for producing world-class whisky. This combination of high-quality water and grain is the foundation of all Sullivans Cove whiskies. All Sullivans Cove whiskies are made from 100% Tasmanian malted barley. The wash is brewed locally by experienced brewers and then double-distilled in a unique Tasmanian-built pot still, affectionately known as "Myrtle." The first distillation, known as the "wash run," produces low wines of around 20% ABV, which are then distilled again during the "spirit run" to produce a spirit of around 70% ABV. This spirit is diluted to 63.5% ABV before being placed in casks for ageing. Most whiskies are aged in either 200L American oak ex-bourbon barrels or 300L French oak ex-tawny barrels, maturing for many years in Tasmania’s unique climate—typically between nine and eighteen years. Tasting Notes Nose Rich & Complex Vanilla, caramel, and ripe stone fruit. Subtle hints of baking spice and a touch of oak mingle with the delicate fruitiness, giving way to a deeper, almost earthy complexity that speaks to the maturity and natural environment in which the whisky was aged. Palate Smooth, Bold & Full-Bodied Deep flavours of honeyed sweetness, vanilla cream, and hints of roasted nuts. The American oak imparts a powerful but balanced depth, while the Tasmanian ingredients provide a smooth and velvety mouthfeel. A delicate spice and fruit balance rounds out the experience, giving this whisky an enticing richness that lingers on the palate. Finish Elegant & Lingering Long, warming, and complex, with the oak's intensity tapering off into a subtle, mellow sweetness. Fine tannins and a slight minerality provide a delicate grip, allowing the whisky's full character to shine through in a satisfying, lingering conclusion.
